 I have been asked to quote for two childrens homes both 15 bedroom houses, I havent been targeting anything other than domestic properties so it was a bit out of the blue when I got a call this morning, I need to quote them quite quickly but i'm not sure what sort of percentage extra to charge above my normal residential rates, Also would a place like that need risk assesments or contracts, I havent a clue as I wasnt wanting to get into the bigger stuff yet. any advice greatfully received.

Just quote how long it will take in hours mate,charge around 25 per hour and you should be there or there abouts. As for risk assessments and the like i wouldnt have thought they would ask but just tell them you are fully insured (i hope you are!) and that should be sufficient

I have had a disabled childrens home for nine years now, they have never asked for a risk assessment, but I have had the same price for that long, and I'm happy with the price.

I don't intend to put it up? Two reasons the first and main one being, its my way to give a little back to them and the second is they would probably put it out to Tender if I did.

They normally belong to the county councils.
If you do a good Job on the home with a good price (for them) you can keep it for years and they stay loyal.

You should be able to work out a price based on your normal work.  I assume it is outside only,  just count the upstairs windows then down if there are say 50 compared to a house of say 10 then it's 5 times the price you charge for a house with similar style windows. Be sure to add on a bit though I used to do one years ago and the little so and so's were always making a mess on them, mostly spit etc but on the odd occasion it would be eggs!

As a matter of course they will also "run a check" on you as you are working in the proximity of children. (Police record etc - but don't worry about minor traffic offences)

Thanks for your replies from whats being said I'll quote at my usual rate and maybe add a tenner on top,   its all old sash windows so hopefully with the wfp they will sheet and I'll make good money anyway.
I am insured and no worries with a police check so should be ok
