Stainless ??
« on: May 30, 2004, 12:27:53 am »
Hello guys,
Can you help save me some time and energy?
I have just been given a Stainless steel water feature for my garden, the problem I have is that it has been used for a couple of months using hard water and has stained quite badly.
At first I thought it was just the usual hard water lime scale build up, but having tried to remove it, it seems more like rust.
I have tried Solvol, Brasso, and Lime Light, but none seem to make much impact.

Any suggestions?

Neil

Hi Neil

You could try an acid based type alloy wheelcleaner, should be safe as long as your object is cool to the touch and you don't let it dry in and rinse properly.

Protect with WD40 or baby oil afterwards.

Alternatively try Peek, all purpose metal polish.

Hi
Just a quick note to say thanks to all who replied to my request for help,
In the end I used Solvol Autosol and a very fine scouring pad along with a lot of elbow grease, the results were good and the finished product is now in place in my garden. :)
