I would really appreciate some help with this guys.

We are in the midst of doing a builders clean on a large doemstic property. As the guy who owns the house owns a hard flooring store and a building company, almost all of the floor surfaces are hard wood flooring with tiles & vinyl in kitchen & bathrooms etc.

The problem is that there are marks on the floor from the adhesive used to lay the floors, Now that we have vacced and mopped the floor these streaks are visible and the customer wants them removed (no danger of the guy causing the problem being called back to resolve, just get the cleaner to sort!)

Any suggestions on what we could use to remove without damaging the floor. We have just used a normal general purpose cleaner to date for mopping.

Now he also says he wants the floor polished up. What colour pad would you recommend. My research seems to indicate white is the way to go ?


We are going back for the final time tomorrow so speed is of the essence.

I would guess it is not water based as the streaks have remained after being mopped multiple times.

I will try & find out some more information tomorrow.

Some glues will break down slightly with a standard 'multi-surface cleaner' in a spray bottle from your local retail outlet.

It is mild enough to be fairly certain it can be used on most surfaces without damage or staining.

Simply spray it on the glue, wait 5 minutes and rub gently with a clean cloth.

It really depends on the type of glue and the surface. Tiles and vinyl should be no problem at all, but be very carefull with real wood flooring. Use a hard to see test area first.

If in doubt, simply tell the client that he must call back the floorers, who will be insured to use the correct chemicals.

imo it is down the the people who laid the floor to remove the adhesive marks, I wouldnt want to be held responsible, as the cleaner, for any damage caused should something go wrong trying to remove the adhesive marks to be honest

Get some eco-clean from Solutions, spray on a terry towel or micro fibre cloth and off it will come with no damage to the floor,
