Raised Bucket Ideas
« on: October 28, 2006, 07:29:37 am »
Is there anyone on the group that for ground floor windows has their bucket raised
Off the ground in an elevated position so that your not continually bending down
When dipping your strip washer etc.? Something perhaps that’s more professional
Looking than just putting your bucket on a plastic chair, that is`nt mobile or practicle
Enough anyway perhaps.I did awhile back convert a cheap Argos sack cart/trolley
That looked reasonably professional with a centrally positioned bucket that would
Swing to and fro`.The problem was it was only around 15 inches or so off the ground.
What I have in mind is an alternative to the Sorbo Quadrapod for those members who
Are familier with. They are not available in the the U.K.All ideas and comments appreciated.

No. We simply place our bucket on ground level and dip our strip washer bending down.  Annoying and unprofessional it maybe but that's the way it's always been!

Hi,

When cleaning windows at a house you only need to dip your applicator just the once in your bucket. Surelly a lot less bother then setting up a contraption to raise it off the ground.

Lewis, how would that be an advantage over a BOAB??
Not that I use mine now but I alway found that I could pull the applicator out of my bucket, laden with water, slap it in the BOAB and there would be enough water in there to do a complete house, didn't even need to take my bucket out of the car most the time.

Though I can see that it could be useful if you are doing a very big job, or perhaps doing lots of shops or other work whereby it isn't practical to get your vehicle close and you have to carry your ladder, bucket and other equipment some distance.

So perhaps some form of converted sack truck might be of use, somewhere to store all your equipment, carry poles, spare scrims, your water and so on.
Easy to lift out of your vehicle so you can just wander off and get on with your work.

Lewis, since I WFP the tops and trad the bottoms, I can't be bothered to trail a bucket about with me.

I sometimes use the large Unger Urgotech pouches, two of them and my rear one I carry a wet sill cloth and a small bottle of Fairy, but filled with my cleaning solution.

When your applicator needs wetting, just wet it with the contents of the bottle.

I'll also use customer's outside taps, ponds or even puddles of rainwater if I'm caught short.

Firstly, yes I do have a bad back, secondly I`ll vote for anything that makes the
Job easier manually.
Good comments Ian ( Giles) positive and can be replied to and perhaps gain
Somewhere along the line ( thread ) . I know perhaps it`s all down to personal
Preference but I don`t personally `go a bundle` on B.O.A.B`s.With what I had
Made up and assembled with the trolley I had 2 bolted to the sides for holding
Strip washers and squeegees which really is what they are, tool holders. There was
Room even for a couple of terry clips for holding an Unger/Ettore extension pole
In place.I suppose it could be classed as a portable workstation. There again depending
On your view ya could class it as a `half assed contraption` more hasstle than what
Good it did. What `triggered` this idea off was when years ago I saw thisyoung fella
Walking all over the streets of York( north Yorkshire) with an Unger bucket (with
The hangers) and a six or eight foot `vee` ladder,to clean the shop/store fronts I presume. He looked really uncomfortable somehow. It`s just down to the way sackcart/
Trucks are made and designed I think. The bucket (which can be detached) needs to be
Around 3 feet perhaps off the ground.`Buckets-in-a-Bottle` ( 2 or 4 around your waist
Is some kind of an alternative ) or a 5 liter container in the Unger Ergo-Tech pouch
( both hips).Any further comments ideas?

;D ;D ;D Lol Tosh, do you really use ponds or rain water? I know it wouldnt make a difference to the finish at all, but what if the customer looked out of the upstairs window and saw you taking water from there pond, lol.

You could carry a spray bottle with the solution inside,
twist the nozzle so it squirts out in a line instead of fine spray,
then squirt the water onto your applicator when it gets dry.

Since you can direct the water, you won't use as much and the bottle should last a while. (No that I've tried, by backs fine  :) )

Thanks Jeff,a good drawing.Funnily enough a calapsable `skeleton` like
You`ve shown is something similier to the Quadropod itself.Theres also
The Leaf Cart which is too near to the ground anyway I feel.Well, anyways,
I`m gonna keep looking.
