Cowboy
« on: October 27, 2006, 03:46:36 pm »
Out going to the shops today when i saw what stood out to me as a COWBOY. He had what looked like a white corsa with no back windows. He had a wooden home made ladder on the roof bout 11ft long. Made of 3*2 and batten.  It was stapped to the roofrack with rope and it was sagging over the side.
on the passenger seat he gad a bucket with a couple a scrims and a squeegee from poundland and a sponge.
Don't you just hate it when people profess to be window cleaners and the trade down?

I know what your saying mate, I see them all the time >:( >:( >:( makes your blood boil dont it.

You will get stick later for this topic, I started one not that long ago and some people here think that "cowboys" dont even exsist :-X ;D

I have seen allsorts mate, ladders hanging out of sun roofs, builders buckets with crusted cement on them, bright yellow plastic
car squeegees and sponges. Some of the dangerous ladder use I have seen has shocked and angered me.

But apparently there only "cowboys" if there on the dole, and if there not signing on, its ok for them to risk the lives of innocent people

they will find some cleaning apparatus lying around there house or kitchen or probably salvage it from the skip down the road, nock up a ladder out of rotting timber they found dumped behind the railway tracks and call themselfs window cleaners!!!!

Oh dear, I'm showing my age :-\

Steve Wright, AKA Radiio one DJ, now a Radio 2 DJ....
In his heyday he had a character on the show called Mr Angry, who would phone in and get more and more incensed over some topic or other...in fact he would get so angry he would slam the phone down! >:( :o >:(

Some of the other geriatric window cleaners will 'get' the inference in the last sentance ;)

Look lads,

Why worry about these "Cowboys" ??? ??? ???

Unless they are touting your customers and telling porkies about you.  Then take the reg of the car and any details you can and pop into your local Social Security Office....Basically....SHOP em!!.  Only ever had to do this once in 20 years!!

But, if you are a presentable and proffessional window cleaner, you won't have any trouble with a dodgy looking "Cowboy"!!

I love cowboys - their very existence ensures that some people are willing to pay much more for a reliable, honest window-cleaner!
