what should i do
« on: October 23, 2006, 06:05:22 pm »
the other day we went to a regular customer (a bungalow) but she wasnt in, there was no side gates open to get to the back so one of the lads attempted to climb over a brick arched gate. however the brick arch collapsed (luckily no injury!) the lady returned and had a go but my argument is that we always usually climb over if no one is in whatever house as agreed by the customer. and she agreed we could before, the brick arch was about to collapse anyway and i think he just helped it along so what i am saying is why should we pay for an already crumbling wall!

i know what most of you will say what are you doing climbing over to get to backs but we always have!

she now wants it repaired at our cost. what is your opinions

If that happened to me,i would want it repaired. But at the same time i wouldnt of agreed to let people climb over it.So in a way,it you are both at fault.I would have the hump with your lad, though for not realising the danger.Being a brickie,i would charge £400-£500 for an arch including materials.(depending on size).

You have to make good the repair, it is a pig I put my toe to a small tile on a roof once and it snaped, I told the customer who came and had a look she looked at the roof and said you have broken loads, I said no only one but she would not have it. The cost was £70 to make good, hard to swallow for one tile.

But it is your reputaion at stake, how many people do you think this person will tell if you dont. She will tell everyone.

Hiya Lee,as you say luckily no one was hurt so put it down to experience and pay someone to rebuild it for you,she will only tell everyone what has happened if you dont, and it wont look good,if you rebuild it,she still might tell people but she will allso say you had it rebuilt at no cost to her and she would be very pleased
