i am about to put together a letter for my customers to let them know i am going to start cleaning windows in all weathers , at the moment i only do upstairs wfp and downstairs traditional with fairy liquid.
what i want to do is on rainy days use wfp on all windows which means i need to use something on the downstairs when i clean trad that doesnt leave a residue
i cant carry enough water with me to wfp all windows so would only do this on rainy days so i can still earn money
i have used gg4and3 but dont like them also i have used squeegee off which is ok , does squeegee off leave a residue and what else is on the market that has got the slip factor and doesnt leave a residue


when i have put a letter together i will post it on here.

please state any advice for cleaning windows in the rain , i will be giving a garentee for the work.

My only comment on this is I can see a problem.

Everytime you re-apply liquid to a window you are then creating a "first clean" next time you use WFP. The main problem with WFP is rinsing away any previous soap deposits, this is the most common reason for spotting.

Therefore, when you have cleaned in the rain, which some customers may feel agrieved about, you have a high possibility of leaving spots due to previous traditional cleaning, which in turn will convince customers cleaning in the rain isn't such a good idea!!

You can't carry enough water to rinse throughly so you may have a problem??

I had one cancel on me today because it was raining a lot recently.  It was cloudy but dry when he said this.  I think I really need to get rolling on getting a lot more commercial work in.  The "not today" brigade have been out in force very recently.

How can you not have enough water in there for a day , what tank have you got ?
I only ask cos i carry 425 , work at least 7 hours a day and still come home with no less than 150 per day , mainly 3 and 4 bed semis .   Top and bottems

i have got a 400 ltr tank in the van but their are 2 of us working from it which we do easily just doing upstairs but to do all windows i would run out

i know about only cleaning once would cause spots thats why i was asking about squeegee off to see if it left a residue i know that gg3-4 dont leave a residue but i dont like the slip factor

Here's a tip for working in the rain. Start later when they've all gone to work and finsh before they all come home, unless it's the school holidays and use your judgement wisely!

Hi Gary,
I do tops and bottoms with a 300 L tank and I always come home with 50L at least now, I use an inline tap on my pole wet the window, turn off the flow. scrub the window, turn on flow and rinse, turn off flow, move to next window, since switching to microbore and fan jets I use even less water than before. My best so far is 22 houses, 6 are 3 storey, the rest are a mix of 3 and 4 beds. all UPVC never had a complaint since using this method.

I always keep the flow going for 1st cleans and yes I wish I had bought a bigger van so I could have gone for 650L system.

To answer you question, i find squegee off doesn't leave residue if you pole after.


However, I would simply buy a bigger tank. Dont take a backward step.

I had exactly the same today.
She said as we are getting so much rain that she does not think its worth carrying on as she is just throwing money away if i was to clean and it rains that night or with that week.

I think it was just an excuse as i have only cleaned her twice and the first time they were rotten have not been done in years.

gary try this mixture gg3 or gg4 and johnston baby bath ,the combination gives you suds along with the gg3 you need to put a good drop of johnstons in the water a few squirts at least
