My t/m is going through water like its going out of fashion, im sure its something to do with it dumping clean water back into the waste tank, but as for why and what i can do to stop it i have no idea.

red the machine should  dump water back in to the clean water tank so that is not the problem. what wand and jets are you using !?

I see that you have the woodbridge pro 25,I have the the pro 20.

Is this dumping of water a new problem, or was it always doing it?

What tools are you using with it, some upholstery tools ( drimaster ) will drain the water tank very fast.

If its a new problem then contact woodbridge, because something must be broke.

If its always been doing it let me know, I will tell you how to stop it.

I can work nearly a full day with my machine, and I only have the 50 gall sub mount tank.

Peter, using the wand i got with it also the hand tool i got with it and have used my extracta hand tool and scrubba tool and they all empty the tank in record time. It was John who was telling me it was probably dumping clean water into the waste?

Chris, Its allways done it but iv only got about 16 hours on the clock so far so still getting used to it, but i cant get a full day out of mine i done my own lounge today wich is not big and i didnt even move any furniture and it still emptied half the tank just on that ???

It sounds like its dumping a lot?

More than mine anyway.

A lot of truckmounts dump water into the waste tank, its how they control the temperature of the water. When it gets to the temp that you have set the machine at it dumps the water, cooling it down.

Have you got the temp set on max? If its set on a low temp it will dump a lot more, even though the temp is adjustable it really should be left on max.

I have modified my machine so that I can either have the water dumping into the clean water OR the waste water tank.

I have cut the hose that dumps the water back into the waste tank and fitted brass quick connectors onto each end. I have then put another hose, fitted with another brass quick connector , back into the FRESH water tank.

So I can now decide wether the water dumps into the clean or waste tank.

The reason that the water is supposed to go back into the waste tank is because hot water is not good for your water pump, and if it is dumping hot water back into the clean water tank all of the time it will eventually heat that water up.

So I start the day with the water going back into the clean tank, but if the level gets to low I divert it back into the waste tank, so the pump doesnt overheat.

Woodbridge will do this for you, its a simple enough job.

But it makes a big difference to the amount of water that is used.

You do need to use your common sense though, and not let the water level get to low.

chris has made some valid points. you need to look at the tools you use and the way you clean. when i first got my t/m i was still in porty mode and left it running when i spotted  or did other things this caused overheating  as my water goes back in to the fresh tank [ i think i will get mine converted like chris  before next summer] if yours is dumoing in the the waste then no wonder you are using so much water. the extractor tool you had when i was you at woodbridge is that designed for a t/m !? if not this could be one of the problems.

Today I cleaned a lounge diner + stairs landing and then 4 rooms ( 12x12) and another stairs and landing.

I had the machine set to dump water back into the waste tank, because  both propertys had outside taps, so refilling with clean water, if needed, would have been easy.

I used about 3/4 of my clean water tank ( total capacity 50 gall)

So it would seem that your pro 25 is dumping an excessive amount of water.

You dont turn the thermo stat down at all do you?

Have a look at your temp gauge when the machine is running,
you will see the gauge drop back down when it starts to dump water.

At what temp does it dump?

if you are using nearly a tankful on just your living room then this has nothing to do with what tools you're using or what temp you've got the machine set at, your dump valve is faulty,

find the pipe that dumps the water into the waste tank, look at the end and turn your machine on, is it dumping water when the machine is cold?

if it was older it could be just caked up but on your machine it probably wants replacing.

by-passing the dump into the freshtank will meen you are dumping cleaning solution not freshwater, unless you turn off you chemical meter. ( unless it dumps before the chemical injector)

this is a common problem with lots of truckmounts

Mick

I take it on the boxer with last step injection it wouldnt dump chemical into the tank?

Chris and co

With the boxer I can clean for around 1h30m before I need a refill.  Thats machine hours.  If the house has a tap then I use it.  Only been a handfull of houses where theres no outside tap and so an inside tap has to be used or even buckets!

Yes dumping is a pain but still wouldnt be without the TM.

Im gonna have to presume its faulty, coz it does it with all the tools and iv varied the temp between 70-120 and i still use loads of water ???

Iv been turning the machine off between spraying with the in-line sprayer and aggitating so its not left to run idle so i dont think thats the prob, guess its gona have to go back to be looked at.

Dump your inline sprayer.  Vac, prespray, brush/agitate, turn on machine and extract.  Do this for two smallish rooms at a time.  Otherwise turn it off between rooms although it shouldnt be dumping too much in the space of a few minutes.

Red you say it dumped half a tank cleaning a lounge, how long does cleaning a lounge take you?

it may be better to measure water used by running time and not how much you clean, as some of us will be quicker than others.

as Mark says his is 1.30hr i think mines tad more maybe 2hrs (about a 3 bed house for me). so its really not that long when you look at in them terms.

I can't get rid of 70 gallons in 4-5 hours of cleaning @ 350psi with 02 jets, is your dump valve sticking?

I recycled my dump valve back into my clean water tank this Summer and because we had a hot July my TM kept switching off because it got too hot!

Is your petrol tank inside the water tank?  Mine is and so the overall fresh water capacity is probably about 55 gallon.  :'(
