Strangest thing you've been asked!
« on: October 21, 2006, 09:49:45 pm »
Hi all,

Had a funny experience in the week. After cleaning a 92 year old ladys suite (of which for the full 3 hours she didn't stop talking to me..) she asked if I could do her a favour.

I said of course expecting to change a lightbulb. Going outside she gave me a spade and asked if I'd dig up a tree she didnt like anymore!

It was only about 3' tall so thought why not how hard can it be, do the old girl a good turn ???

Only took 10 mins but was harder than cleaning the bloody suite with the destractions!!

She gave me a nice tip so was worth it. Still chuckling about it now :D

Anyone else been asked to do anything out of the ordinary?

All the best,
Jason.

Hi Andy,

I'm fine mate thanks hope you're good too.

That beer (or 10) sounds great. Never turn down a night out me....... ;D

I'll email you my number so we can sort out a wild one! Carpet cleaners and wild one is not normally associated but we'll make an exception eh :D

Speak soon, all the best mate.

Jason.

I went to a farm to clean a suite and lounge carpet once, when I got there she asked if i`d help clear the room. I said yes no problem as you do, but I didn`t realise she meant get the chickens off the sofa!!! I can assure you this is true !!! :o ;D

Ahh,
I was once asked to give the carpet in front of the fire a realy good clean as this was where the pigs used to sleep (it was a farm) god bless em.

Was also asked once to clean the carpets of a hellicopter....but I knew the bloke was a complete waste of space (there is a story behind him), so politely declined him.

Whilst taking to a customer I mentioned that I  had petrol hedge cutters ended up £50 better of  after cutting her hedge .

its the clearing up that’s the hard work.

Makes you think that if we all diversified a bit there is more money to be made   ;D

A few years ago i had an urgent call saying their dog had messed on the hall carpet and it needed cleaning,  I said sorry couldn't get there until monday and it was friday, they said ok and booked it in.

when i got there 3 days later they opened the door and right smack bang in the middle of the hall was the biggest pile of dogs mess i'd ever seen and two blokes standing there holding there noses and one said  "please get rid, it stinks"

Needless to say I was gone like a shot, but it still makes me laugh to think they thought i was going to just suck the lot up into my machine, plus the fact they were too bone ideal to move for it for three days :o

I'm a window cleaner... I once got a call from one of my local customers asking me to water their hanging baskets every day while they were away for a week.

I politely told them that I was too busy window cleaning to be able to carry out any extra services :)

"I wont have to pay extra for the stairs will I since they are in the lounge and the carpet is 'continuous', oh and there is just a tiny landing"

The custard simply thought I would include the stairs/landing withing the price of the lounge because they led from the lounge  ??? >:(

Although ive had far stranger conversations or atleast one sided conversations  :o

Had same thing and i was akid at the the time-friend of my father ran a funeral business and had a mortuary in his woodworking yard. he wanted the mortuary fitting out with new carpets so in we went-only to find an old dear "laid up" i was only eight or nine and just sorta looked on while me dad went to fetch old man-they came a running to put lid on and then promptly lifted it without puttin "pins" in it(the slang for nails holding lid) it was a massive panic for them as i just stood amazed i had seen a dead person! weird but not a prob. it aint the dead that can damage ya as "they" say ;D
