Marley Premier Collection
« on: May 10, 2004, 12:30:00 am »
I've just moved into a brand new house and the hall, kitchen, utility and downstair loo have vinyl tiles from the Marley Premier Collection. After only 2 days living on a building site they are proving a sod to keep clean! I've had a Google and have found Marley suggest a "dry bright acrylic based floor polish"
I've found a product from Clover called Diamond but any recommendations or advice from the hard floor specialists would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Dennis

Do you know if this floor has previously been polished?  If it has you will need to use a stripper to remove the old polish. Normally I would suggest just a good clean with degreaser would do before laying new polish but seeming as you have been living on a building site!

After putting the polish remover on the floor agitate and go off for a cup of tea while it does it's work.  Remove the stripper with lots of clean water.  Make sure no residue is left as this will effect the laying of the polish.

When floor is completely chemical free, clean and dry use a new mop head to lay your polish.  A second coat can normally be laid within 20mins of the first, ensure you mop this on in the opposite direction to the first.

To keep the floor clean a polish maintainer can be used.
Hope this goes ok for you and you get the results you want.

PS:  Try Express for products - Selate (Stripper)  Dimondbrite (Polish) Selsheen (Maintainer)

Thanks for that. I think the problem is the floor has not been polished after installation at all as per Marley recommendations so just looks c**p!  ::)

If all the new houses are like it I might offer a new service and be on to a nice little earner.  ;)  ;D

Yep I agree maybe a nice earner although marley floors aren't doing so well as the click together wood at mo.

I would still recommend the above process but prehaps replace the selate with seville (degreaser) you'll still know after applying and waiting whether the floor has been polished because the seville pentetrates slightly so you will get a sticky surface.

Maybe go with the stripper anyway, might save you that extra 5ltr of chem.
