Problems with vacuuming a new carpet
« on: October 07, 2006, 01:46:44 pm »
Hi guys!  :)

I wonder if anyone can help me with this:

Just recently in one restaurant that we clean the owner had new carpets fitted.

after a days use the carpets are covered with fluff, especially under the chairs where people keep their legs. >:(

Its a real pain because the vacuuming takes much longer,
I was told that this will disepear soon, because its a new carpet, but actually it gets worser.

Has anyone experienced same problem? Any ideas of making the carpet less fluffy?

cheers  ;)

Had the same problem in a clothing retailer. You just got to keep vacuuming. Use a good quality upright

Could be a problem with the quality of the carpet. If its not designed for heavy commercial wear it could fluff up all the time due to abrasion. I have seen this happen on synthetic berber type carpets before. On the other hand as mentioned it may just be because it is new whereby it will settle down over time. But don't forget all that fluff is coming from the pile bulk and if it is excessive could be leading to localised wear.

Hi

It is totally normal, I am constantly vacuuming up after carpet fitters, but in a letting situation.

In a commercail site you obviously get a lot more traffic, so a lot more fluffing going on. Just keep vaccing it's about all you can do.

Regards
