I've been wondering how many people use spikes on the bottom of their ladders. does it really work?

Spikes?  I've never heard of them.

Are they for using on grass?

If you're looking for a ladder safety device, there's a few about.

There's articulated feet, the Rojak ladder stopper (I've one of these), Ladder Mats (ditto), the ladder stand-off (ditto and great for gutter cleaning jobs) and others.

Metal spikes are pointed metal steel spikes which are bolted to the bottom of the ladder whilst sharp the stick in the ground on any surface execpt concrite!

I always use spikes wont go up a ladder without them. Only surface they aren't safe on is york stone

The only time I used a spike was on sloping grass. I have one the lengh of a poker that I jam up against the bottom stabliser bar. Dai

i used to use the spikes when it snowed so it didnt stop me cleaning , now with wfp dont need them
