Ashby Ninja Hot solvent kit
« on: September 19, 2006, 11:56:46 am »

I have this on my Ninja but never used it to date, do you think I'm missing a trick?

So, anybody have this on their Ninja and actually use it?

Does it offer any real advantage over other porty users?

Should I be seeking out niche jobs for it?

Speak to your customers about curtains, with a machine such as yours you could be cleaning curtains in situ. I have just bought a hot solvent machine just for this purpose (not many people doing this at the moment)

I've got a ninja with hot solvent kit, tried it twice, not impressed with the results I got, I'm thinking about stripping it out of the machine at the moment to make it lighter, Andy

Andy,

Exactly what I was thinking, got some stairs to contend with this afternoon.

The question was aimed at those who have had it for some time. I'm just wondering though if I'm not seeing opportunities.

Timmy, I hope you're going off your own market research. If so great.

They are soon to be banned anyway as everywhere else in the modern world. So if you are thinking of buying one I would think again. Best, Dave.

Doug would be able to explain it more technically than I can but...........In the very near future you wont be able to get a dry cleaning solvent to spot clean with or to clean in general. Perc has been banned for many years in the states although I know it is still available in this country.Why someone would want to use it is beyond me. Therefore the solvent machines that are in use now will be a thing of the past. Best, Dave.

I paid about £500 for a hot solvent kit on my first machine.......make more money I was told!
This money would have been better invested on booze and women  ;D

Took out the pump several years ago to lighten the machine.

Yes and no (used once a total waist of money but we live and learn)

I bought my Ninja in 2002 with a solvent kit. I also had a longer set of hoses (extra 35') made so I didnt have to take the ninja upstairs.

Curtains
2003 = £ 4100
2004 = £ 2400
2005 = £ 1300

in 2004 I bought my t/m so dont like having to load my ninja up to do curtains, so thats why theres a gradual decrease in curtain work.
I would say go for it, just make sure you price it right and remember to filter the solvent.

Another buyer of the full spec Ninja, which has never been used for curtains.

why would you need hot solvent for curtains?

when if tackled correctly good results can be obtained by other methods
