Price Increases When and HOW MUCH?
« on: September 18, 2006, 06:29:00 pm »
I'm relatively new to this forum but have learned some usefull things on here and it makes me feel normal knowing i'm not the only one having probs of one sort or another. I'm Sure this has been asked before but I've been cleaning traditional for 3 years now and have had 1 price increase ( some not all jobs ). When is the Best time of year to put prices up and by how much?  :)

People often ask me if it's gone up when I start again in the new year.

Probably the best time, as it won't be a surprise to people.

i increase every year from as little as 20p upto a pound a job depending on the size and who they are, but i never put prices up for the people who always make me a cuppa and the odd slice of cake or biscuit. Got to keep them sweet as they are the ones that see you through the cold miserable days cheers dougie

To right dougster, but there usually the one's that say you must put your prices up lol.  I increase by a pound minimum.

I have an OAP who insists on giving me a bag of sweets every time or some times an apple, the milkman and the postman get the same, I never put her price up and she told me I must add a pound to her price, when I refused she became quite offended and told me I would have an extra pound if I liked it or not.
'O' I wish all my customers were like her.

The problem with this is that they will eventually become poor paying customers, what is worse is that you end up spending time drinking tea on a badly paying customer. Put everyones price up! Keep the money simple ie. round up to nearest pound. when people start fiddling around for "change" it  lowers your value.

I put my prices up approx easter ! it wouldnt feel right doing it towards the end of the year ,( when some of them are just looking for an excuse not to have them done quite so often during winter )

Hey
never worry about 20ps or 50ps
get every one onto a round figure £8.00 £10.00 etc
then price increase accordinaly by a pound.
If you go collecting life will so much easier.
And more money in the bank.

Hi Fellas,

Ive been putting my prices up the past couple of months with good response, I havent lost one customer so far but have only put up around 40% of my round. I plan to do the rest next month except for about 15% who are newish customers, they will go up early next year.

I put them up accordingly to what I thought it was worth now and how much I thought I could squezee from them.

The under £10 brigade got rises of £1 or £2

The over £10 brigase got a rise of between £2 and £4

Over £25's got between £3 and £7 lumped on the bill although roughly £4-£5

Get them prices up and not by 20p, we are worth every penny. ;)

I think that when i turn my business fully over to wfp then i will be able to justify bigger increases than what i do on trad cleaning at the moment.
Hence more outgoings on wfp as there is with trad methods

what does everyone else think charge more for  wfp or trad or increase the same cheers dougster
