Did a classic today,customer rang last night and asked for a monthly clean in some terraced houses I have leafleted,said I would do them today,got there did the fortnightly job I have in the next street and went to do this first clean and did no 36.Went home checked my note from last nights telephone conversation and realised it should have been no 34 - how me and our lass did laugh.

I've been stupid enough to clean the wrong house three times!

Can anyone beat that?

If I explained it, it would sound logical enough though.

over the years we have done that a few times for different ( stupid ) reasons ! its actually not a bad way to get new customers as ive gone back to apologise and picked up future custom !

  I was doing a customers last month and her mother was there and asked me to do hers, said no probs, did them a couple of weeks later - no one home, payment was sent in the envelope provided a few days later.

  Did this same customers this month, she asked when I was going to do her mums, said I had already done them, apparantly not, don't know who's I did but they paid!!

  Will do them both this time round and see what happens.

I did this once a couple of years ago.
One of my customers wanted me to add there daughter on my list he gave me the number.

So a few days later i did the house in question an old lady was in watching me and i was thinking christ his daughter looks older than him.

anyway did the job call for the money and got paid.

later that night the father rang me and said you cleaned the wrong house im awfully sorry he said i told you the wrong number.
Anyway the lady said you did a better job than her window cleaner.

So i had to go back the next day and clean the correct one which was next door.

Still i got paid for both so i was happy

Don't know if this is the same, but I did a regular customer and was up my ladder doing the windows (all curtains drawn) I was on my second window and my wife said to me ''Is there any furniture up in the bedrooms'' Don't know I said all the curtains are closed,
so I took my ladder to a window with no curtains had a look and the bl***y house was empty, the customer had gone,

I said to my boss leave it and don't do any more, she said'' I have already put the ticket in the door. Tuff just leave it I said.

one week later we had a call from the new owner saying thank you for doing her windows and could we continue, she asked were to send the cheque? I thought for the future, gave her my address and two days later a cheque on the door mat, Nice one, some you win some you loose!

We've done the wrong windows a few times. Once, when I was working on my own while the others were working elsewhere, I did the wrong house, put an SAE plus letter through the letter box, and the owner phoned that evening and said in no uncertain terms to go swing for our money.

My mate who I worked with came on with the big deal stuff about how could I get the address wrong? So I told him to go do the place himself, which he did, and he went and done the same wrong address and put another SAE plus letter through the letter box.

It was one of those cases where one road changes into another half way along and there's no road sign saying so. So we both had driven looking for the same right number on the same wrong road.

I took the pi*s out of him for months over that.

I have done this several times.

Annoys me when they sit and watch you clean All the windows and then refuse to pay you as you are not their window cleaner or they don't use a window cleaner.

My classic was in my early days (on a ladder) and I was helping a mate who was renting a round and had just started doing it.

Anyway one sunny day we go to the wrong house (unknowingly) - no-one in - so carry on. Do fronts, (and notice a naturists mag on the inside cill, but think nothing of it) and climb over side gate and walk round the back to come face to face with a sixty year old gent stood in nothing but a panama hat pruning his roses!

He asks what the XXXX do we think we're up to and tells us to clear off as he does his own windows, to which my mate said "not dressed like that mate I hope!" 

After the initial embarrassment I nearly wet myself laughing!
