I don't believe it.
« on: September 15, 2006, 08:36:45 pm »
At the end of a clean whilst chatting to the customer and collecting payment, he said "I'd like to give you this" and handed me a bag containing a book, oh good I thought, something new to read. But when I got back to the van and opened it, I found it was a bible.
I clean the window of the local community church, but don't remember making any comments regarding any religious views, perhaps other than the occasional blaspheme.
Saw the customer again today, but neither of us mentioned the "gift".
What would you have done?

If it was a King James version, wouldn't you have asked him to look at Psalm 83 v 18, JM123? ;D

Got some runner beans and a 6 pack of beer but never the bible.  Put it on ebay or wrap it up for christmas if you dont want it.
Veni, vidi, vino, splatus.

I've never been given the bible but I once got given a copy of a book called the bagavad git or bagava gita or something very much like it by some people who were  Huri Krishener's or how ever they spell their name.

I got given a paper plate with food on it which I have to admit tasted really good.

The blokes were all dressed Indian style.

Very nice people but odd.

Just found the book, it is called 'The Bhagavada Gita' and they were 'Hare Krishna's'.

I did read a few pages but it made no sense. Also, they never paid me for cleaning their windows. I didn't like to ask as they were obviously religious people. Yes, I know I'm stupid. We do a vicars house and we never charge him either.

Maybe it's because I am older at 47 so to speak.

Apart from the million soft drinks (including beers :)) i've had this summer, the strangest has been some fresh garlic bulbs and a chilli plant which is still doing well, no chillies yet though!

I'd send it to Tosh, so he could decipher Malc G's and JM123's post.

Its where you can find Gods name (Jehovah) in the Kings James Bible(An old translation commonly used by Church of England). Its significant because we cant be accused of inserting it our own translation or being smart bottoms :)

Thats it

NOW, NOW Lads.  Calm Down.

1.  Tosh, I think you ought to appologise for calling names
and
2.  Don't bring religeon into the forum, it only causes friction
and
3.  My advise to the chap who got the gift is:
     Read it!
You never know till you try it!!

Where are we going with this thread?

Relevance??

As a comment, the original post was fine, but most of the replies are little more than desultory chat.

not locking it yet, if it continues to amble along then will have to reconsider.
