Low Moisture Hands On Experience
« on: September 10, 2006, 11:29:45 am »
Just one week to go, and the inaugural NCCA Hands On Experience looks like being a great success. Here's some details of how the day has been planned.

The day will start at 09.00hrs. If you're not there on time, don't panic.  The agenda has been arranged to allow for this. There is one large room which has to be back in use by 12.00 noon, So we will start the day with a job in progress.  This will allow you to register and be issued with your voucher for lunch.  You can meet up and "network" with colleagues old and new from around the region and from further afield in the country. Maybe a coffee or tea. You can watch the techniques used by the demonstrating technicians.

During the morning only, Trevor Ives will be in the Ballroom offering his PAT Testing Service. There is a charge of just £5 minimum for this which will go to The Primrose Hospice www.primrosehospice.org/ Of course, if you wanted to donate more, there'd be no protest :) Cheques or cash only please.

After lunch in the Ballroom, or maybe starting earlier if we make good time, we'll start on the Hands On part of the day.  This will take in three basic disciplines. Pre-Vacuum, Very Low Moisture (Dry Compound) and Low Moisture Cleaning.

Pre-Vacuuming
This will cover regular vacuuming, enhanced vacuuming and Pile Lifting.  I have arranged for Sebo and Victor vacuums and Holloway and Minuteman and Host PileLifters. I have not been successful in sourcing anyone with a Chemspec Pilelifter, so if anyone visiting has one, and would like to bring it along, please contact me by email ken@carpetcleaner.fsnet.co.uk or by personal message on this forum.

Very Low Moisture Cleaning
Frequently referred to as Dry or Dry Compound Cleaning, we will have several systems on display. These include Host, Envirodri and Sebo.

Low Moisture Cleaning
We have quite an extensive range of machines and systems available to us. As well as the expected Texatherm and Dry Fusion, we will also have offerings from Truvox/Cimex Encapsulation, SuperPad Charly, generic bonnet with various pad types (eg cotton, Turan and Microfibre) and Oscillating Pad (Challenger, Hruby and Oreck).

It looks like being a full and exciting day. The agenda is flexible so may vary slightly from the above.  More people have so far registered than we would normally expect for this type of event, but as it is such a large venue, we can always take more.  I would still advise pre-registering ASAP on 0116 271 9550, the fee being a very modest £15 or £10 for NCCA Members (Inc. V.A.T.)  If you just turn up on the day, you will still be charged the event fee, but there may not be lunch available as this must be pre-ordered.

Although representation from the manufacturers will not be allowed, many have taken interest in this event and have agreed to send us some system brochures etc.  Being an event open to the industry, if any manufacturer or their agent does attend, I request that they attend as individuals and refrain from "branding" themselves through their clothing or other means.

It looks like being a great day. I would expect the proceedings to end at about 16.30hrs, give or take a little, and I look forward to meeting you all next Monday, 18th September at:

Goodyear Sports and Social Club
Stafford Road
Wolverhampton
WV10 6DH

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Hi Ken
Do you think this would be a useful day for someone like me who is considering buying the Host system to start up in carpet cleaning?

This would be a fantastic opportunity to see the various ststems in action and talk to people who actually know and understand their individual benefits.

Well done, to whoever got this off the ground, wish I could have attended

Hi Howard

As Angela has already said, this would be an ideal opportunity to see for yourself the benefits and limitations of all the LM and VLM systems on show.

You will also have the benefit of speaking to people who have been cleaning carpets day in and day out for many, many years.

It would be great to see your there next Monday.

Safe and happy cleaning :)
