when you claim back against your fuel for tax charges do you just put the receipt amount  lets say £5 spent so deduct that from your profit or is it done by mileage? t.i.a

I put in fuel receit, some i know put in milage.

I have a van & its for work only, so my point is if i buy diesel it goes in the van so it goes against tax,

If you are self employed you should work out the percentage of your private & work use of your van. You then claim the work percentage of all your costs (fuel, service, insurance, road tax, new tyres etc)as a cost. But you must keep all the bills & receipts.
