« on: September 03, 2006, 08:49:06 am »
wanted to tell you about a job we did this weekend, was a basic clean for two house boats moored to a lake, stunning place and very clean and tidy hoilday homes, but i arrived on friday morning to find there was no water! the owners were away and we were doing the change over cleans for the new customers arriving that day. i had to trudge home to collect water and heat it on the stove! what a nightmare, anyway got it all done and got home to find a message from the owners to say there had been a small leak and the stop cock had been turned off!!!!!! i had to then go back to switch it on for the arriving customers! being female do you think i could find it? and then when i did the b"""y thing would not turn!!!!!!!!!! so a local farmer had to come and do it...the next day i went back to do the other boat for more customers and hey NO WATER! so i used my savy and started turning bull cocks untill i got the water on, i finished the job and left and then had a thought "oh god i might have switched the water off for the other boat! so back i went to check lol what a two days running back wards and forwards...anyone else had funny jobs like that?

I was instructed to carry out a full post production (filming) clean in an unused building which was due for demolition in the week following the Sunday we went in...

Ours is not to reason why and all that, and the company paid up promptly, but it was definitely my strangest job.

Well this wasn't funny at the time (well sort of -lol!)

I was short staffed due to illness, so added a few jobs to the rota for other staf including myself & partner. We Set off for work early so that we could do offices before 9am - right on time!  Got to the first domestic clean - clients on holiday (we usually go there 9.15am) arrived 8.45am, first of all we have to open the electric gates which are very slow moving!

There was no hot water on tap, so I put the kettle on (not for a brew!).  We began cleaning, we didn't get very far when the lights went out.  I flicked them on and off - nothing!  The alarm kept beeping.  I noticed a digger in the large grounds and went to find the driver - nowhere to be found.

To cut a long story short, we locked up as there was no point continuing, it was so dark! (as my client was on a train travelling through India, no point in ringing him).  I was worried about the freezer etc but nothing I could do.

Arrived at the gate-pressed the button - NOTHING! I forgot no electric - well , after 2 hours we finally got out after 2 gardeners, next door and 4 electricians finally open the gate!

The gardener later told me - oh yes there was a notice electric being turned off between 9am - 4pm - Moral of the story -Don't turn up early next time!
