If they are modern leaded windows you should have no problems, but if the are the old leaded windows with individually pieces of glass then this type can leak.

Do a test area first before you quote for the job to see how they react to wfp cleaning.

A point to note,

I clean several churches in our area and you will need to inform your insurance company first. The reson being if you are unlucky enough to damage any glass they have to use specialist glass and repair companies as often these buildings are classified as "Listed".

does the pure water damage old stained glass in any way? the reason i have never approached churches was because I heard that some stained glass is surface only and that the pure water would strip away the colour.

if the windows leak you could get a second man inside with a numatic hoover to clear up the water as you go.

do churches have budgets for window cleaning? how do you price them?

sorry if its off topic but all related I thought

Thanks for all replies.

So to summarise then-

1) Watch out for leaks.

2) Take more care than usuall.

3) do a test window first.

Im going to get local press down to get free advertising while im at it  ;)

And make sure you are covered by insurance for these types of windows and an all risks cover.

If anything go wrong it can work out expensive.

I did a church conversion last year.

And would not do one again.

I found because of the design of the windows i had trouble getting my brush to even reach some parts of the glass as all the frame was concrete and protrude and was made in fancy shapes.
So the stained glass where in between the fancy concrete shapes.
