Just out of curiosity how many cleaners on here get wet knees? Im talking of getting down and doing the edges (draught marks etc?) And really giving the custy the full moon?  So to speak!!

depends since getting the t/m i tend to give them a good pre-spray and then spray into the edge with the wand, works 8 out of 10 cases

Be careful if you have just applied stainguard.

I knelt down to put a block under an awkward furniture leg and the dark blue dye promptly came off my trousers onto the nice clean light biege carpet.

  It cleaned off OK but wont make that mistake again.

I dont mind kneeling on a pre-sprayed carpet (i wear heavy duty trousers with pads as im a fitter too) i was just curious who actually gets down to clean right into the edge? I always do but i do feel it eats into job time! I dont use a wand so without doing it manually i wouldnt get into the edges.

 then I just use the extention hose on the vac to clean up the fluffy bits then clean as normal.

Use a hand tool to do the edges and you are less likely to chip the paintwork!

It's worth carrying a few matchpots in common colours...useful if you 'ding' any paintwork..

Thats what i mean calmore-i always use the stairtool and whizz round the edges so its six inch in then go over with the big un' But it can take five to ten mins on a thro lounge?

In the past I have had wet Knees.

You can get an edginging tool.


I am expermenting with sprarying edges and then attaching a piece of plummers pipe to my suction hose.

However although it works I think it looks a bit DIY

Just wear knee pads and you wont get your trousers wet

Wet knees and backside every day, i spend half the time im there on my hands and knees.
All the edges, under beds, behind tv's everything gets a good clean, its only when your down there you can really see what your doing.

Gotta say im the same red carpet. My day can be split into fitting and cleaning so i have always got my heavy fitting trousers on with pads that are faced with cordura-this is very good at repelling water however when ive gone around all the edges, in and out of door frames behind t.v's under the sideboard etc then they do get wet. I dont mind this too much but doing the edges really eats into on-site time! But if i didnt do it i would feel that the job wasnt thorough? I never leave a draught mark and custys do pick up on this and tell friends etc. However getting young lads to do it is probably against their human rights or summat!?  :

Not trying to be an old duffer here but you want to be careful with regards to wet knees everyday.

By the time you are 50 you wont be able to walk, I was warned of this about 5 years ago because I was having problems with my knees and it was because I used to clean damp stairs without knee pads.

You can buy a wand specifically for edges to save your knees it's about 3" wide

Yes from Magic Wand Co, its next on my list, I use a hand tool at the moment, and doing the edges separately does make a difference and is worth doing even if it is time consuming.

You can get waterproof sponge mats from any good garden centre that are designed for kneeling on damp lawns when doing the gardening.

not only do they stop your knees getting wet they provide a cusioning effect too.

Bunch of p*****s! Wet knees    ahhh, it cant be anything compared to cleaning a suite anyway and wet joints and athritis is an old wives tale btw.

Re. edges, why not just prespray and use your soles to agitate and then wand? It works and I have never chipped paint work that hasnt been dodgy anyway.
