Which sort of wfp system do you use?
« on: August 28, 2006, 11:48:53 am »
If you use a wfp at all.

Can you state whether van/car, tank size, hose/brush type, trolley/backpack etc?
And % Domestic /Commercial.
Amount trad./wfp

I'll start

Estate car, 125L tank plus 125L in 25L barrels and Shurflo Backpack.
100m microbore, autobrush.
75%Domestic/25% Commercial
All wfp (except occasional blading of entranceways and inside work)
It's a game of three halves!

100 meters microbore cut down to 50 meters for two hose reels.
80% domestic 20% commercial
25% of the round is still trad

Me and my friend Mr. Zaltowski work from estate cars, using the most basic system going - a 125l, DI setup costing about £500 in total. We work to live not live to work, hence the basic setup. However, the point I'd like to make is that this extremely basic setup is all that's required to earn us on a full day at least £300 - £500. Our work is well priced and pulls us between £40 - £50 an hour. WFP earns us far more per hour than Traditional WC ing ever did. You don't need vast amounts of money to make the changeover to WFP, but it will be the best investment you will ever make. Our two penneth.....

Hello Neil, nice to see you using your time wisely on a bank Holiday Monday ;D ;D ;D ;) ;) ::)

I have a Diy trailer mount, 2x 175L tanks (350L total), 11L di vessel, 100psi shurflo pump, 26Ah deep discharge gel battery, 50M tricoflex on a decent metal freestanding reel, all mounted on a Indespension Daxara 148 trailer. I have a 18ft orange universal glass fiber pole with a 10" vikan brush with what looks like 4mm jets, and a gardiners 30ft pro pole, ( the one with the alu gooseneck ) with a 10" vikan brush with I think 2mm jets.

My work is 60% domestic, 40% commercial ( mostly shops ).  All my domestic except 3 bungalows is wfp. All my shops are done trad, except for cleaning their signs and their upstairs which I do wfp. I do some factories/offices and they're all wfp.

Stuart, SAJ - love the signage on your van  --  'No Ladders needed'  -  better check the top of your van mate, someones using it as a dumping ground!

only joking and no malice intended but I did find that funny  :)

Van with 800 litre tank with RO and DI and a 50 litre trolley.  A 36 ft and a 24 ft omnipole.  A couple of short poles too for ground floor.  A 1,000 litre static tank with RO.  2 x 50 metre heavy duty hosereels with Tricoflex hose (one hose now about 45 metres since I cut some off the end after it split  ;D  ) .
90% domestic. 10% commercial but looking to go more commercial.
98% WFP. 2% trad (approx).

it gets a lot of people talking when they read the side of the van and then see the ladders on top. People are intrigued to what it is all about, we get talking and they say thats a good idea i could do with that type of window cleaning, another customer in the bag ;D

Two vans,

Main window cleaning van is a Fiat Ducato 2.0jtd swb fitted with 400ltr RO van mounted system from Stream, includes a 4ft pole (self build)), 24ft Gardiner pro pole, 38ft Cleantech pole and finally a 60ft Brodex carbon fibre.

Other van is a Citroen Berlingo and is purely trad, it is  also kitted out for office cleaning and other general cleaning work.

Last split of work was 64% domestic, 36% commercial

Probably around 50/50 between wfp and trad

Also have a third van, another Ducato which is kitted out purely for carpet cleaning, and that's mine!!

S.A.J,

Whats that white cover on the side of the van (near the back) for?

Is that where you take your hose out from?

Do you have one on the other side?

Clear Vision,

The white cover was where i used to take the hose from but now it is redundant. The hoses just come straight out the back doors.

There is another port on the other side which is used for filling the tank up at night.

Thanks,

Can I ask you why you don't use the port anymore.

Is your hose reel fixed into the van?

It was to much hassle getting the hose in and out and took to long to wind in. With the reel coming out the back i can now place it any where i want, to left of the van to the right of the van etc.

Hose rell is not fixed in the van.

Stuart,

You say you place your hose reel at any side of the van you like! It must weigh a ton???

What happens when you are pulling the hose from a distance? Does the reel not fall over?

I have my metal reel fixed to the roof above the side loading door. I have a vanette which has two side doors so I can pull out from whatever side I like.

Cheers

Matthew

No the hose reel  does not weigh a ton i use 50m microbore on a metal reel which is as light as a fether.

There is two of us, one pulls the hose other keeps an eye on the reel.

The van i have only has one sliding door.

Ford Transit, 400litre OTT system, 50m 12.5mm hose with 50m ona portable trolley if the original 50m wont reach. 3 orange poles from 18ft to 42ft.

Does all I want it to, but like most folk I'm never satisfied. I think I'm going to be when I'm planning to buy a more modern or a better piece of kit, then a few months down the line I want a bigger tank, longer, lighter pole, newer ven, etc, you know the score.

Work, probably 80% commercial / 20% domestic, but we look after places with there day to day contract cleaning too, which is great in the winter when it's pouring with rain and cold enough to freeze my wotsits!!!
Come and talk dirty to us!!!
