Hi,
Having read the posts on here regarding the upsides of switching to microbore I am soon going to be making the move. Could anyone just help me out  and let me know where the changes are made. I have a van mount and assume that it is only the delivery hose (the one on the reel) that needs changing. do you all keep all other hoses at standard size?

yeah its only the delivery hose that needs changing, the rest of the hoses are fine as you are not pulling them around.

Microbore is fantastic, sooooo much easier a quicker. It transform wfp.

But dont forget , you will have to change all the connections to your poles !
Depending on how many poles you run it could cost you a little bit , it cost me nearly as much for the connections as it did for 100 m of microbore as i have a pole for every day of the week !

notice the males are only 86p each, making this quite a cheap option if you have many poles, and the females are waterstop as well - and all very robust.

also, there has been much talk of microbore causing pressure problems on certain setups, and while it seems to work for a lot of people ok, this

solves the issue nicely, and you can still get 100m on a standard 50m reel no problem at all.

This is probably a really dumb question but what is microbore. The hose on my reel is the same size as a BQ hose but is heavy duty and doesnt kink etc.

I presume the usual hozelock fittings are to big for microbore.

The hose from b&q is i think 15mm or 1/2" microbore is smaller i  have 6mm and the connectors are metals ones you have on the end of airline tools so they last longer.

The great things about microbre:

Doesnt get caught under gates,tyres on cars,other obstacles
lighter to pull back and forwards
use 70-80% less water thus more windows to clean more turnover

microbore will still give you enough water to work quickly, I'd certainly recommend it.  You just back in from your b.study?

microbore is usually 6mm internal diameter, 11mm external diameter.  Garden hose is nominally 15mm int and 18mm ext.

go for microbore or you could go for our own 6mm microbore, tad heavier but ultra tough wearing and unkinkable £65 +del /50m.

Some of the micro is 5mm int, I use 4mm.

And if you need to lift the whole reel then 100m of micro bore is as maneagable as 50m of standard.

Agreed I have been using 100 mtr for the last three weeks, Its easier to pull behind you it don't get stuck on those wheely bin wheels it travels around corners with ease and when you need to carry hose in hand (to get to or from a difficult spot) its a brease.
I recon it saves me about 20 to 30 minutes a day = 2.5hrs week = a whole day by the end of month, plus I dont kick the daylights out of the wheely bins anymore...
