A return to this board............
« on: August 14, 2006, 04:54:01 pm »
.......with ambition!  :D

A couple of you may remember me from a few months ago. I posted my first topic about a troublesome cleaner that I worked with - I was and am still a mere cleaner - however, after some thought and some dreadful expriences with various cleaning companies have decided to start up on my own.

I am still in the process of research. There is so much here to be found and I have learnt a great deal from the various topics - some of you really do know your stuff. I am a little disappointed as the site seemingly caters for many that work within the domestic area of cleaning - are there many here that cater/work for the commercial side of things....office cleaning? I have seen a few threads but not so many.

Anyway, its good to be back. I am still working as a cleaner (as I say) but no longer with the company that supplied that troublesome cleaner - some of you I'm sure will remember my posting.......she was sacked but certainly wasn't legal....'nuff said on that issue. I am now currently employed with another cleaning company that I'm very unhappy with, as are other staff members - I'm amazed at the lack of support and knowledge some companies have - this clearly can reflect on staff that's for sure and introduces a lot of stress within the working environment. I concluded that my own experience/ability, knowledge and determination could be plied to my own company - whatever stress I have would be....my own.  ;D

I do have a question I'd like to ask; I have read much about business accounts, on here and elsewhere; I've see n many mentioning getting their first contract.......but how have you managed this, many seem not to acknowledge any form of a business plan. I have read that even though someone may want a business account with no financial support they would still be required to present a business plan to show the bank. How has this worked for you?

Thanks for your time and........I'm really glad to be back - with ambition! 8)

Welcome back. I think I remember the thread

Our business account is with Alliance and Leicester and they didn't want a business plan. At the time they had the best deal so just rang them up, they send an application form and the rest was pretty straight forward - its a basic bank account - doesn't come with any "free" advisers/relationship managers etc

Works ok for us

I've just sent off my app with the Alliance & Leicester as they seemed the best around here. How long have you been with them ?

Many thanks for your responses - most helpful. I will certainly look into what Alliance and Leicester has to offer as well as the Abbey -  like the idea of free banking......I noticed that the HSBC bank charge for almost everything....unbelievable :)

I use Abbey and have had a unorthorised  payment taken from my account. What a waste of time they are. Because its free banking its all done on the internet, you can phone them but they dont know what they are doing. It has been 6 weeks and its still not sorted out yet, it took them 3 weeks to send me a dispute form .As soon as it is sorted out  I am off .
