What was the latest Xmas/New Year tip you ever had?
« on: February 26, 2026, 08:48:52 am »
Yesterday, one of my few remaining 4 weekly customers handed me an Xmas gift wrapped as a giant Xmas cracker.

She hadn't been home just before Xmas or in January but handed it over yesterday when I called.

What's your latest gift?

It's a game of three halves!

I've had 2 this week. One gave me 2 bottles of beer, a jar of home made strawberry jam and a box of Waitrose short bread biscuits. Yesterday I had a bottle of wine. I'm off wine so gave it to the Mrs. That will be my lot I reckon.
We look at them, they look through them.

Nice!

Mine was a jar of M&S Sticky fig and hot honey chutney.

I might have some later in a cheese sandwich with a Zero Guinness.

Ooh nice. I like CO OP caramelised onion chutney with Jacob's crackers and cheese. And a pale ale.

I got a card and a box of Ferraro Rochetts chocolates today. They were off a customer who had also given me the same card and gift in December.  ;D

I did try to explain but she was having non of it.

I got $20 a couple of weeks ago. Never cleaned her windows before but she liked me and I chatted to her as she sat and watched the olympics. She was sweet ol’ bird, most of em are here.

I have a lovely customer, must be in her eighties who had a stroke a couple of years ago. Last week as I was leaving hers she flagged me down and said "I didn't catch you at Christmas, it's not much but have this", and handed me 11p (eleven pence)  ;D , I was of course extremely grateful.

You accepted a £5 Xmas tip this time of year off an old person who clearly doesn't think clearly? My conscience wouldn't allow me to accept it.
