Dirty rain
« on: August 13, 2025, 04:01:54 pm »
Anyone down south noticed this the last couple of days? It's only light rain but its leaving everything filthy. Making cleaning conservatory roofs and velux a right pain.

Noticed it today on my car & vans. Should wash off easy though.

Yes....sand and grit in the rain and I'm in the North West. Happens a lot in the summer months...

Be grateful that you have dirt to clean off!😄👍

But if you clean the windows in the rain (as you do) the windows will be dirty after you’ve cleaned them😄

Yes I am extremely grateful to clean a conservatory roof, charge a customer 100 notes only for it to rain immediately after and the roof is filthy again so I get asked to come back the next day and rinse it off again. Oh daz I wish I had your enthusiasm.

Even windows are not drying great at the moment as there's so much crap in the air. For the OCD type like me it's hell.
I dare anyone to go and have a look at some of your work after it's dried...it's not pretty. 3 complaints this week and I never get complaints. Water is currently 0ppm and cleaning as normal. It's frustrating.

Harvest debris?

I think it might be soot. Wildfires burning to the west (Canada) and south of us filling the air with crap. Winds are forecast to turn easterly early next week so hopefully be better.

Yes. Their second worst wildfire season on record and they are down the Jetstream from us.

Did notice the wind coming from unusual direction. It might be Saharan dust coming from the Sahara.

I simply don't care enough to let it bother me....😄

If I get a complaint then I'll go back but I've not had one for years now.

That's why I think it's from the fires. It's not the usual reddish/brown that we often get from the Sahara, it's white/grey and and doesn't shift off glass easily.
Although chemtrails is slightly tin foil hat territory  ;D

Be Slacky having a BBQ!!

The fires on Vancouver Island are visible from my place. A friend and I were driving through what's called Davis Bay the other night, the whole sky was filled with smoke, high level. They've got the Vancouver Island fires under control now apparently but if its the smoke from Canada it aint from the ones this side of Canada, as the smoke from them is going south.

Yes.

I'd just properly washed and waxed two black vehicles.
The next day, covered in 'orrible sticky sand.

Must be that time of year again.
