I've decided to get a professional system fitted to the van as my DIY system is playing up.

Looking at pure freedom. Who else should I consider?

Would like a two man, 750/800l with electric reels.

I've been reluctant to get electric reels as I dont find it particularly difficult to reel in manually but my two mates swear by them. Are they that good?

Not that many out there, Grippatank, Ionics and PF is the 3 I know of. I have always had electric reels and they haven't missed a beat.

Make sure your van has the required payload, that’s a lot of weight to carry.
I wouldn’t be without my electric reel.

I was sceptical about electric hose reels, never felt manual reeling was a problem but im at that stage where i need to make things as physically easy as possible, so got one. Had to send the controller back recently as the wires were visible in 4 places on the curly wire so was without it for a week. Boy did i miss it. Wouldn't want to be without one now.

The PF reelmaster is a beast and bullet proof. The only downside is they weigh 23kg so 2 will be over 50kg with 100m on each reel. You could buy the PowerUp reels which are a lot lighter but they are usually nowhere near as reliable.

After plenty of teething problems in first 3 months, my Grippatank system hasn't missed a beat. Maybe I'm just lucky but any problems I just email Oliver and he puts me right. I always stick with something till it goes wrong so after 6 years its great. Its a hotwater system and hasn't let me down yet but get it serviced every 3 years.

I am set up as a two man system but work on my own, the other pump was as a back up.

One day the one I was using stopped working mid job. I didn't fit the system so I called a mate who is pretty clued up and we went through a number of things to see whether we could get it working again and it wouldn't.

Both have new pumps, 6 months old. Im on the other pump now and it will only pump a decent flow if you turn it up to 10. Not sure thats good for the pump. Just cant afford to be off the road for a week while the bloke who fitted it looks at it (he's slow to help as he isn't a very nice person).

Just buy a pair of pumps if the rest of the system is fine?

Pumps are six months old he just said.

Probably a loose/corroded connection or something easy. New system is a sledgehammer to crack a nut don't you think?
Start getting clued clued up on how your system works. Frustrates the sh*t outa me when people don't know their own system inside out.

I'd check the pump pre filters first to see if there's a blockage,check connectors and  up the calibration. It could also be an airlock.

It's more than likely an easy fix esp with the pumps only being 6 months old.👍

I think I had to renew one pump after 2 years because I never used it much. I had to hit it with a hammer to get it going again so I bought 2 new pumps so I had a spare. Changed over the broken one and now use both reels everyday even if its just for one clean. It prevents them seizing up and since then no problem and still have the spare pump lying about.

We've still got manual reels  but very often thought about electric but the thought of reel getting stuck on the usual obstacles like car wheels, steps, walls, pots etc worries me if we had electric reels.

Will only run with a decent flow when the controller is "set on 10." What controller have you got?

If the hose snags, it snags whether your using a manual or electric hose. The reelmaster and I imagine other brands will do the same will detect the resistance and stop instantly, your not going to  damage anything, or rather, your no more likely to damage anything using an electric  than you would with a manual.
