Picking up new customers
« on: June 29, 2025, 09:23:46 am »
This weather is great for picking up new customers. Out yesterday morning and a young girl coming out of the flats ask how much I charge and cleaned her windows there and then. Out again this morning for an hour, Its mostly weekends I pick up new customers next to ones that I clean. Better than advertising because they are usually next to customers I already clean.

Went last night. Anyhow, picked up another tenner clean each month and I only cleaned one street today. So trousered a score on the first clean and have nearly got the whole street. Picked up a small gutter clear aswell. This must be one of the best part time job out there bar a taxi driver.

A tenner is peanuts these days.  Putting prices up to today's value will get you more money rather than working weekends. 🤣

You think taxi driving is better, now I know you’re mad. Drunks, dirty skanky  people giving you large about themselves and then complaining when charged a tenner, no exercise, constant maintenance on the cab and radio rent. With the bonus of on quiet days very limited earnings, fill your boots mate.
Perhaps you should offer to help cabbies on one of their forums, they’d love you.

Takes an hour to trouser a ton in one street. I don't see this as peanuts, I actually see it on the way to be very rich. If I could add a few customers every weekend then I would focus on weekends.  😉

Might take it tomorrow, as I have a SFG clean and gutter clear. Another 2 ton for half a days work so can't complain. Getting repeat custom now and you have just reminded me to take a barrel of hypo if she wants her roof sprayed while I'm there. 👍

I see what you mean but my mates work at the airport and don't have a radio.  Mostly holiday makers and business people the pick up and do quite well.

Take it you didn't gel with life on the Taxis then Tony ? All the others seem to make a good living out of it and have associations and whatnot..
I think window cleaning and taxi driving can go hand in hand for the young and upcoming entrapanuer, both requiring minimal brain power and just a physical presence. And this is why i think we need to reach out to the next generation of window cleaners and move forward.  ;D

Never worked as a cabbie but have cleaned the local rank for 20 years.
The more effort you spend building your round the more it pays. You can’t say the same taxi driving.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. I don't like cleaning windows in the rain but the taxis are always busy when its raining. The old windy up the road drives his son's taxi at weekends. 🤔

Cleaning windows in the rain is great, all windows are shut, no one is in their gardens, you can clean faster and its nice and cool.

It was very hot and humid today.....even i was wilting by this afternoon!😄👍

All my scheduled work was completed between 9am-2pm.

It's going to be a lot cooler for the rest of the week here in the North West.

Gym tonight. Luckily it's air conditioned so it'll be fine for a leg workout
price higher/work harder!
