I have an old customer who always talks to me regarding her husbands insurance policy. Its a long story and she's been fighting with his insurers since he died 3 years ago. Just when I thought it was all sorted Its flared up again and I'm new ears to hear it again. I was trying to get away when she followed me to talk to me over her new metal fence. Anyway I was putting away my hose and had one hand on my pole when it fell down and broke over the metal fence and she didn't even notice, I felt like crying as its only 6 months old.

It may have been a blessing in disguise because I have track down some 20mm plastic pipe, cover in clear CT1 and fit it inside to see if it works. The top section seems to break at the same place which is 8 inches below the top.

I will keep you all posted on my progress. If it works, then I will be fitting the insert in every new pole's top section before I use it. 😉

Before we go any further and tell you inserts are a waste of time, or even ask you how you come to break a pole like that i just need some closure on the ladies Insurance situation ?

I'm going to slip in a 20mm plastic plumbing pipe. Before we all speculate, let me do it first and then I will get back to you and tell you how it went. Might be rubbish, might work for a while and break again or it might be great and everyone will want to know my secret. In the end I don't know the outcome till I try it but it should be interesting, nothing ventured nothing gained. I waste alot of time trying out new things and ways but the odd one seems to come good.

Well I got round to fitting the 12" plastic insert and will let it set over night. Full day tomorrow so will see how it goes. Don't expect it too last because not sure what glue to use. I used clear CT1 and should have used the stuff they glue the clamps on but every day a school day. Will follow up tomorrow to tell you if its still holding. 🤔

Well you won't believe me because i find it hard to believe. The pole was even better than a new pole. The reason is, when I want to extend 2 poles then I extend the first to the break (150mm) and extend the other 2 and its great and very strong. When i extend the first it still works fine but still unsure. The glue has worked a treat but not sure what will happen when pure runs internally and only time will tell.

Anyhow, its save me 100 odd bangers and only took 30mins to glue in 12" plastic insert. If its still working in 6 months then I don't think I will be buying anymore replacements. 😉
