upgraded Atom side entry and Hairpin 🤔
« on: February 16, 2021, 12:28:34 pm »
Anyone got the new upgraded Atom.
Side entry?

I upgraded mine last year with GVS side entry kit 👍

Reason I ask is interested if anyone bought
The Hairpin carbon neck and has free
Scallop nozzle too.

If so is it making things more efficient
I obviously noticed side entry kit on my Atom
Gave it more suction and 50mm hose helped stop the odd blockage I got
Especially pine cones 🤦‍♂️😄

I may get new base drum eventually
As dropped my Atom off ladder coming from flat roof

To be fair just some cracks in wheelbase
But like to keep things nice
Seems no one sells the wheel base as spare 🤦‍♂️

Thanks

If you have cracks in base then a reasonable fix would be to fibreglass the underside. Maybe even add a bit of metal to support the cracks and fibreglass over them underneath. Keeps it looking reasonable?

This sort of thing should be OK https://amzn.to/3djimcI it is capable of covering 0.25m2 so should be enough. One thing to check though is the type of plastic it's made of just in case its something that fibreglass wont stick to. That said I have never found something it won't stick to!! It's a bit of a messy stuff to work with so use gloves!! The good thing is you can cut the matt to the shape you want, then 'paint' some resin where you want the matt to be, place the matting and work in more resin and the matt conforms to the shape. 20mins later its set solid! So be careful to work quickly - cold temps slow it down a bit. Maybe put some tape over the cracks on the top surface so resin doesn't leak onto the side that's seen while it sets.

You rained off too?

Come out half an hour ago
As it stopped raining ☔️

20 minutes down the road
Parked up and peeing down 😭

We’ve got the hairpin neck. The lads say it is very good and blocks less.

Not rained off, isolating due to Covid!! Not that I have it, just my partner has blood cancer so is very vulnerable, so we are staying safe.
Would be a lovely day to work here (Blackpool) blue sky, no wind, and 10C!

Do you reckon that Atom side entry drum would be worth buying?
You've obviously adapted your own, so I was wondering if you think it makes a difference.

Hello Robbo

Yes I do 👍
But would do with 50 mm hose too.
Stops blockages.

I adapted mine with GVS kit
I wouldn’t advise that as there’s a chance you could mess it up.

I’m not sure how much more powerful I’d say it is I’ll try to locate the gvs video of their small vac before and after cfm reading

Airflow measurements
Their baby vac is 1300 watts
Think Atom is 1600 watts
(I know it’s not an Atom but gives an idea)

I’ve pulled some turfs, chunks of roof tiles, pine needles since upgraded that sure wouldn’t off.

Gutter cleaning Facebook group guys, who have Atom all said it was unbelievable difference with diy kit I got from GVS

Id say feels 30% more powerful
But I’ve done about 25 jobs
I’m still slow

All
Easier now thanks to Spinaclean
Thinking about their scallop nozzle

Thanks lee

This machine is more powerful
But you get the idea from the readings

Before and after of airflow
17 minutes I think is the result

If that vac is 3000 watts then
Would I be right saying half the numbers roughly  as Atom 50% 1600 watts

Someone else might say it doesn’t work that way 🤔

Thanks lee

Robbo

Here’s video of 1300 watt gvs gutter vac
Side entry measures 5000 cfm

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fYgveV783Ww

In other video 3000 watt front loading vac
With 38 mm hose
Cfm measures 3000 cfm
(Before modifications)

So Atom with side entry modifications and 51mm
Hose is better than a standard 3000 watt vac
👍 (unmodified)

That’s how I understand it.
