Oven cleaner on aluminium handle
« on: July 15, 2020, 07:33:59 pm »
I had accidentally splashed some oven cleaner on an aluminium oven door handle.
I only noticed when it dried and turned white. Tried cleaning with degreaser and multi cleaners but won't come off.  The handle looks as though it has a coating as I tried rubbing with steel wool but not coming off at all.
Any help appreciated.

What type of oven cleaner were you using?
If its caustic based there's probably not much you can do to remove it, best  bet would be to replace the handle.
Not much help I know, but will save you wasting time trying to fix it.

most likely anodised - the cleaner has probably gone through this coating,  as said get a replacement - you could get it anodised but I would have thought thats cost prohibitive
