How long is it going to last
« on: March 28, 2020, 05:42:32 pm »
I don't think the government would be going to all this trouble if it was going to last just 3 weeks , more like 3/4 months , so are we all going to be sat on our bums all that time its going to drive me mad being at home doing nothing.

Prepare and get used to it is my advice.

Look at what's happening in this country and the rest of the world. These things do not happen for something that lasts 12 weeks!

I think social distancing will last a year at least that why i'm knocking up a covid page on my website

If we are seen not taking the situation seriously we could face a total shut down  :'(

I reckon come the first half of May restrictios will begin to be relaxed. There may well come a number of weeks where these restrictions are re-introduced for periods of time, maybe up to a month at a time, but once the middle of May has come round the worse of the restrictions will be behind us, although we will be a long way from being clear.

The lockdown in China, which lets face it is one of the worst affected places lasted 8 weeks.

I don't think they'd pay us for 3 months and be building hospitals if they thought it was going to last 3 weeks.
Some people have to self isolate for 2!
It's very early days.

Based on what we already know, China was able to enforce its lockdown by shooting non-complaint citizens...probably

No chance we will be locked down for 3-4 months, people would start to go insane & the economy would collapse, I think everyone will be allowed back out come May but social distancing will still be needed.

If it keeps growing at the rate it's going at (2x every 3-4 days) it won't last long enough for a vaccine.

If you’ve had the virus and become supposedly immune I wonder if you can get back to normality or wether you’ll have to wait for everyone else to catch up?

If the news and government details are anything to go by and then the panic shouldnt be as bad as what people are fearing!
Scientist are already saying that the social distancing is working at slowing things down!

We will not eradicate the virus lol, we can not even get rid of the common cold because of the nature of how the virus is and behaves. So this virus will never be destroyed, yet this initial hit and damage wont be repeated again.  Yet this is not to say further pandemics wont happen.

However, when I fall behind on my work by a couple of weeks, it will then take a couple a months to get everything back on track, esp financially.
Thats a little sole traders work, never mind the nations economy.   The HIT on this is going to be huge and the recovery is going to be very long indeed, given that it is not just our economy effected by this.

This is the question isnt it because nothing has been said about this.
We have had it, or very strongly feel we have but obviously not tested. My mother in law has.
So can she now come to ours and us to hers!  Yes still applying social distancing rules because we could temporarily be carriers of the germs until we wash our hands etc but on the theory that we are now immune do we have to be penalised like everyone else etc

260 deaths so far today. So getting worse, not better.

You can't!
Not because you think you've had it, you can't.
