BACS problem
« on: March 27, 2020, 10:42:22 pm »
Has anyone had problems with BACS payments?
I had two people text me saying the payments wouldn't go through (both first time BACS payers )  long standing BACS payers are not having problems, just new ones

Ronnie you may be on to something there-  one of them mentioned something about the name being wrong - I didn't take much notice as it's the same name I always give people

Agree. At one time all you needed was a sort code and account number. Now you need the account holder/s name/ names as they appear on the account
NatWest are also allowing themselves time to check the account electronically before sending money.  The other issue could be that not all banks are signed up for this electronic checking.

Everything has to match now.  So a payment made to K Martin if my account reads Kevin Martin is no good it has to be to Kevin Martin.  This is because of various issues so in my case I have a friend Karl Martin, my wife’s name is Kathleen Martin so if I were to get a BACS payment or cheque I could give you anyone of the 3 bank details or take a cheque and pay anyone of 3 people.  Before anyone of you bright sparks suggests otherwise the aforementioned  is by the way a hypothetical explanation using me personally as an example ;D  Likewise with you lot everything must match for those banks who have changed.  Check with your bank

The problem is you have a creative trading name and you have a limited company name which could be something silly the bank account is usually always in the limited company name!.
I've noticed also odd text for account name.
However I have also had some first time BACS payments go through and they used the creative business name
I have a feeling it's only some banks that's recently done this.

I don't use a fake name!

I think it may be formatted differently to the way I wrote it on my leaflets though..

Would that make a difference?
When I log in there's at least 3 versions of my name  on the site so very confusing.
my full name, my surname with initials, my name with the words Business A/C added..
