Illegal wage docking
« on: December 07, 2019, 05:00:20 am »
Hi all, im new to the forum and am here to understand the process of wage docking.
I believe some companies participate in what I thought was an illegal practice by docking the wages of workers who fail to log in or out of a system at a given time e.g. on start/arrival at a commercial premises and on leaving to show payroll they have been at the required location for the required amount of time. I am hearing stories of workers completing the work, being on site for the required amount of time, have proof and witnesses to state this is the case yet the company employing them refuses to pay for there time as it is company policy not to pay anyone who forgets to log in. The reasons were normal, e.g. rushing to get to next job, phone flat etc...
I belive this practice to be illegal and would lime to invite comment from others to see how widespread this practice actually is.
Many thanks in advance,
Carl
