Hi, I'm considering cold calling businesses or in addition to this possibly sending cold emails to businesses advertising my carpet cleaning business.

Has anyone done this with any success, regularly?

Any tips?

Emails just go into junk or get put in there.  Cold calling any serious business without a prior appointment doesn't work in my opinion.  I think your time would be better spent leafleting your area.

You could try a halfway approach,  cold call businesss so you don’t have to bother them with a cold call.

Walk in and apologies to the receptionist tell them her you understand how distracting it can be for someone to walk in and cold call, tell her you don’t want to be that sort of company. Say you would like to post some literature about your services....... then ask...... “who in the company Would make the decision to have the carpets cleaned?”

Say thanks and tell how much you  appreciate  her help.

Then post some info, but ring up 3 days later to check it arrived ( you were worried because you just scribbled down  the name and address in your terrible handwriting )

Bla...bla....bla....bla ............cold calling is an art that cannot be learned on internet forums

You could try a donut day. Visit a number of businesses and just leave them a box of donuts for their elevensies.

After a couple of go's just say you are promoting your company and would it be ok to leave some literature about your services etc.

It does work apparently although I did it with letting agents. I got 1 job only cost me £50 and about a week of my life...... Don't do it now as it isn't the market I want to get into.

Definitely gets you noticed though.

When I relocated from  Birmingham to Bournemouth it was on a shoestring. Needed turnover very quickly. I spent a week visiting every Hotel ,pub club etc. Simple speech you got 15 seconds before they lose interest.I am Derrick I clean carpets very well here is my card. It works I am still busy in my thirteenth year. Mind I have not cold called for years, getting Lazy.
