Max hose length
« on: December 20, 2018, 07:03:37 pm »
Evening chaps, can anyone tell me the maximum  hose length possible, but still be able to run my fsc? I have a Honda gsx390 21ltr 200 bar machine.

How far do you want to go,    ⛳️        🏌

I don't think you would get 500 yards like but you could easy go 100 yards

Always another way of doing everything.

Get a longer supply hose to tank, know what your water outlet flow is so if it is connected directly to the machine it won't cause cavitation because the water isn't there for the pump to draw from.

At 21 lpm you ought to have a tank and that will give you a 'buffer zone'

I have 200 metres of 3/4 inch supply hose on the van and then 200 metres of HP hose. That'll be 400 metres before I need to move the van.

Thanks, that is what I ideally wanted to hear, do you get much pressure drop at those lengths?

I carry 100m on a reel and feel no pressure drop,  but if there is it’s not  noticeable , actually I carry a 35m reel on the trailer unit if I’m using the trailer but it not long enough I connect that onto the van reel so it’s 135m length and still no notice a difference

http://www.ultimatewasher.com/hose-pressure-loss.htm

This seems reasonable.

I see a reduction in flow/pressure at extended hose lengths but I push it.

Up to around 100 metres it doesn't make a noticeable difference - I measure this not in a loss of flow/pressure but in a slow down on how fast I can work.

From 100 - 150 metres you start noticing the difference, above 150 metres an obvious difference, if your using a FSC I would need to go over it twice at least.

On larger commercial there is often no choice than to use these hose lengths, working all the way around a supermarket fire escape walkway, with a standard gated access you cannot get the machine any closer so the hose has to do the work

9 times out of 10 though you can use the supply hose to tank to reduce the amount of HP hose you need, whatever set up you use.

Just done a TK Maxx and a couple of other storefronts in Banbury. From fire hydrant/wash out - 130 metres - HP about the same.

Thank god for the FH. The ice rink left on the carpark was another story at minus 5.

Good luck

Thanks for the info Yada, Mike, so today I hooked up 100m and as Mike posted, no obvious pressure loss, I will add another 100m next week and report my findings, will it make any difference if, for testing reasons the hose is coiled on there reels?

If we are working on a building site we constantly leave the trailer where the water source is to trickle charge the bowser . We run hoses around the building . As long as all your hoses and connectors are serviceable then any flow loss is minimum at the trigger end.

Just be careful at this time of year the ground temperature  can freeze the hoses/connectors & pump
