« on: June 26, 2006, 02:30:49 pm »
HI LADS, in post this morning info on ashbys new vac booster, thet are making big claims on this  ,use over 400ft hose !! this sounds tad much i think , after all its just a third vac hooked up to the exhaust , and rember u can hook any machine upto another by the exhaust i do this myself giving me not 3 but 4 3 stage vacs but 400ft hose nah  maybe 150ft at a push, your views please , and petrol truckmounters what do u think should u hav brought your truckmount  when u can achieve 400ft with a porty ?

400 feet off 3 vacs, I'll believe it when I see it!

It's the tripped fuses in peoples homes that put me off these new suped-up  portys. The only way round it is to run a generator, but then you may as well spend a bit more and get a truck mount.

95% of the time I never use more than 70' of hose with my truckmount. Occasionally have to use 120'. Why would I want 400'.

yes i go with u on belive it when i c it , but as for tripping eletric thats bit of a myth  i never hav, rember theres a max amount of eletric u can pull through one lead on 240volts  anything over this amount and it would melt the plug  in the socket , and if this was the case they would never be alowed to sell them, as for a geny it would hav to be huge to power a high powerd porty

Cos I'm an old fart and couldn't be bothered to hump a porty around any more ;D
I know you are going to say I could have left the porty in the van. However with my Prowler I can do anything I need including carpet cleaning at up to 300' but more importantly flood cleanups when sometimes there isn't any electricity. All i need to do now is fill my water tank up in the morning, make sure Ive got petrol and I can go all day, easy peasy ; :D

;D ok fair comment jhon each to thier own  ;D but i would say vast maj of truck mounters brought them because of the long lenghts of hose  they can use and if this is the case and what ashbys claim is true  which i find hard to belive , would this hav had an efect on thier decision to buy a truckmount ? i am just intrested thats all and in noway having a dig at truckmounters  8)

i agree with john the t/m is much easier to use hardly any set up time less intrusive in many ways , and quicker  i used it last week at 150ft  three flights up with no loss of power. i proved it at the week end with a water lift guage  .cant see a port doing that somehow. though i must stress i still have my porty and do use it. there is a place for both machines

lol yes i agree craig it seems lot money when u could buy yourself a second smaller machine with one vac and connect it up the same as  and also u end up with a backup machine with a pump etc in it

Iv seen there box and i did like it, it gives you quite a bit more power than the two vacs you can really feel the difference

400ft ::) cant quite see that one myself, they sent me info on it aswell and i thought the same thing

i would be happy to use it at 100ft and just over with the 3vacs though

vac motor 3 stage £50 quid from woodbridge,

all you need wire it up, mount it in a box with its 3 point mounts, run a bit of hose off for attaching to your exhust, thats it !!!

now why should that cost £595 ?  lol

they see us c/c coming ;D

it should really be £150  -  £200 max

I do believe that the ashbys booster box incorparates a 7" three stage motor!!

It wont be a 7in motor it will more likely be  a 7.2in motor.

Gerrards often use up to  1000 ft of 2in hose from the truckmount.

i dare say if i am wrong the engineers among you will put me right. but if you attach a third vac that is pulling through tow motors will it not shorten the life of those motors!?
