Do you think an 0800 number really works?
« on: June 25, 2006, 08:27:56 pm »
Hi all

I have been pondering using my 0800 number again of flyers. I used it briefly last year in a local advert with mixed response.

Upon reading another post a guy said that he had a landline number in his advert in the local rag which was for another area. He said he got no calls at all but when he put the same advert in with his mother's 'local' number he got 15 calls!

Do you think an 0800 number would help getting the business in? I am really interested in having it on the flyers and not an advert in a paper by the way. I was just worried that if people saw the flyer with a not local code they might not ring? What do you think?

Thanks all

Skywalker

I put my 0800 number on with South Shields below it to let people know I'm local.

Thank m8. The problem for me would be that I was going to get 10,000 printed at a time and have a guy deliver them for me who actually does it for a company. The areas he covers changes from week to week so I cannot really do that.

if you have a 0800 number use it ! i have found as your mate has you get very little responce when advertizing out of your      ( local ) area.
having said that are you going to be diverting your call's to your mobile ? at near on 30p a min to do & custy's are able to talk the hind legs of a donkey & offen do !
like i say i'd use it, but you'd best monitor the responce if it's worth it !

I use an 0800 on most of my advertising, the first lot of flyers I had made up with just the number and no address got a bad response, the next lot with the 0800 and my address went a lot better, with regards diverting it to mobile, not a chance, when Mrs Smith phones to say her cats puked on the settee then gives you its life history its going to end up in big bills, Andy
