Delete Google Account
« on: July 18, 2018, 07:31:24 pm »
Following the bad review yesterday and given that we don't find our customers via the internet I am considering just deleting the Google Business Account.

The steps to do it are here:

Has anyone done this?

No but that’s quite interesting- I suppose once you’ve got enough customers, you grow organically anyway so you could disappear of the map and stop advertising altogether

I've never been a fan of internet customers. They are a tiny minority of all calls received and generally want one off cleans of their upstairs windows. What does concern me though is those who look us up after getting our leaflet and get to see dodgy reviews.

Yeah I understand- I get a tiny percentage of customers through google . Having a big internet presence is a must when starting up as i think it possibly reassures potential customers who receive your leaflet. But when you’ve grown to the size you want , I don’t think it’s a necessity

i doubt anyone who acts on a leaflet is really going to trawl through google reviews - and if its only 1 or 2 that shouldn't bother them either

Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

Probably. I did have one person come up to me whilst working though to say she wouldn’t use us because our reviews were bad and we were nasty when customers cancel.  ;D

I only have a website as a point of reference for my existing clients and for newly interested ones to check out.  I don't use if for advertising and I'm getting tired of Google marketing people phoning me to offer this n other to higher me on the search.

If you dont need it you dont need it.

I get almost all my customers via the internet, its a great tool used properly.

Not so many via website but Lead Generation, social media, etc and reviews certainly help.

It is open to abuse but the idea is you should aim to drown bad reviews with positive ones, afterall 98% positive looks more authentic than 100%, no one is perfect.

However if you dont push positive reviews the only ones you will get are negative.

Same here and the funny thing is they don’t even look at your position on google before they ring you. I’m on the 1st page of google and then get phone calls asking if I want to pay them to get me to the top of google  ::)roll

I'm old fashioned (still trad so there's proof enough 😂) but seriously I have always found that the best way to build a run is to get out there and meet potential customers face to face. I canvassed until I didn't have enough time to do any more, by which time work was coming in through word of mouth recommendation (well known to be the best form of advertising). I have a facebook page that I update periodically, but that's it. My van isn't signwritten because I don't need it to be.

Although we try to please everyone it's impossible sometimes because of different expectations people have. If we get it right 90% or more of the time, then don't worry about the other 10%, they are likely not the sort of customers that we want anyway.
