Employee mileage payments
« on: January 21, 2018, 04:20:54 pm »
Hi
To those who have employed staff in a domestic cleaning business...
What is your policy on paying mileage in between cleaning locations? also do you pay the staff for travelling time?
Thanks

Hi everyone

I know this post is reasonably old but i believe this is a relevant question for employing staff whom use their own vehicles.

we pay our staff 20p a mile  to aid the cost of their travel at the end of the year they can then claim the remainder back from a self assessment with HMRC

https://www.gov.uk/tax-relief-for-employees/vehicles-you-use-for-work

we also charge the client this 20p a mile and base it from our office for example if the client is 6 miles from our registered office we would charge them a extra £2.40 return trip on top of their £14hr rate.

the clients understand the need to do this and are aware before agreements that we will clean their property and the staff get the money they are owed keeping them happy and in return they do a good job keeping everyone happy.
