good idea, on the time off you will probably have good weather then in Jan when you are back to work you are snowed in for 4 weeks......suddenly its not such a good idea, probably better if took the winter months off completely or as Daz does take the time off during the year
your not as thick as you look bob

Or you could take the 2 months off and be snowed in, then clear skies for back to work! Who knows?

But if I was gonna put money on which time of year is most likely to be bad weather.........

Customers are keen to have windows cleaned before xmas even if it means bringing six weekly and two monthly work forward. January the weather is at it's worst  compared to the other eleven months and a good number of customers are skint after paying out for xmas and happy to leave which suits me as I like an extended holiday in January but still do commercials and high end work when due and forget the rest until February. I work extra hard from start of November up to Xmas so I've done the extra work to allow a lot of long breaks in January as I've covered my bills for Jan by xmas anyway. Customers are happy and so am I, been doing it this way for quite a few years now.

Maybe do 10 months as standard and offer Christmas cleans at a premium?

see i dont see it as draining (whatever the weathers doing adam).why would i?i only work 5 -7 hours "on the glass" a day 4 or 5 days a week.its a doddle compared to the 60 hour weeks i worked nearly 30 years ago.i feel truly blessed that i can earn a very good living without busting my balls working crazy hours like millions of people do every week.

Because grafting properly for 5-7 hours is knackering. I've said it before but I don't mess about, it's much harder physically doing this job for 6 hours a day than it is working as an employee when I wouldn't have put no where near the same effort in. I get round my work, I don't have a break, maybe 5-10 mins to  eat a sarnie. Im constantly rushing none stop, when I get home generally I'm tired.

Then I get up the next day and have to get round the work, if it chucks it down for half a day and I don't get round then I'm in catch up mode so working harder. If I get delayed again then it makes it worse, and so becomes and endless chase to catch back up. Then with that it becomes draining both physically and mentally. I don't feel like I can have a day off to relax (other than a forced day off due to weather etc which is not relaxing). Just feels like work work work all the time it's draining and not enjoyable when it's like that.

I'm not saying this is all the time, sometimes I'm on top and flying other times I feel like this. That's why I said at times it can be draining. It's swings and roundabouts, ups and downs.

But I do have a goal to set someone on next year.

Without sounding harsh, I don't think your work ethic is conducive to employing. You have to lead from the front when employing. If you as the boss show any weakness in regards to work rate this will only send out all the wrong signals to  any potential employee.
