Why does my new pump keep pulsing??!!
« on: December 13, 2017, 02:28:03 pm »
Hi all , Iv bought a new pump and controller and it keeps pulsing when in use.
Iv calibrated the controller, but when the water comes out the brush it’s starts of really slow then speeds up to normal then after a few minutes it slows to a dribble for a second then back to normal and repeat!

Any ideas please?

Cheers in advance 👍

What pump and controller are you using?
My first thought was calibration needed, but I see you've already tried that.
Second thing I would check is all electrical connections and battery charge.

Cheers Andy , it’s the genie in a box from window cleaning warehouse.

Iv calibrated it a few times and it sorts it out for a while then goes back to being awkward again.  ???

Definately give your battery a good bench charge if you haven't already and double check connections if still no joy.

When you say you have calibrated it what speed setting controller was on? Digital ones should be calibrated at 30 nothing else. If you were doing this at different settings this could explain the problems you are having.

Yep it was 30 , I always forget how to do it so I watch the spring controllers video on youtube beforehand.

Maybe It’s something to do with my water being so cold in the tank ?
I opened the lid yesterday after not moving for 2 days and I had to break through a layer of ice!

Do you get PS or DE light when this happens on controller?  Sometimes corroded connection can throw ps light on controller. What's the voltage reading on your battery?

I would calibrate at the flow rate you will be using otherwise this can cause the false dead ends. It's happened to me.

Or try auto calibrate & then manually increase by say 5.

If you've got ice in the tank then maybe it's in the hose/pipework.

ramp up the cal to 55,check all connections and run the pump on 99 for a bit and see if that helps

I would say it's the battery, try swapping with another one and see what happens,

I have had this more than a few times , once it was a done in battery , once it was a slight kink in the hose way back on the reel , i unwound it all off let it pressure up and it sorted itself out , once it was blocked strainers and once it was due to using hoselocs with the built in waterstops , i knocked them out and all was good .
Just a few things to look at before you buy a battery or rip the wiring out !
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

That's been a problem for me in the past. Now we don't have one on the van with a stop.
