which method do you blade when trad
« on: July 25, 2017, 12:05:44 pm »
Periodically i still like to get the trad gear out to make sure i can still do it 😂😂  so cleaning this conny windows i thought i would pose the question, which trad style do you use when mopping n blading?

((Disclaimer before the comments start.....
Lol not a good time to do a vid as i left my pouches at home to clip my bucket on belt to and also this was about method not speed, hence i wasnt going as fast as usual.
Final disclaimer ive caught cold from my ickle baby girl hence heavy breathing on vid....apologies for))

Me too Daz, unless I'm inside & then I'll catch it on the mop with my left hand.

And I hate the term 'blading'. It's squeegeeing to me.

Quite impressive although I'd imagine you would have to detail going at that speed especially if there are rubber seals around the windows, a little slower and you would be able to cut in a little better meaning no detailing. I soap up with pad in my left hand then blade off with squeegee in right hand......incidentally what method did you use to clean the hoppers?

"Hoppers"??
Guessing you mean top opening windows.
I use an empty spray bottle, ie like a mr muscle spray bottle in my pouch. Dilute blue unger pills in 2ltr bottles and keep topping my spray bottle. A quick light spray (enough to clean the window without drowning it taking ages to buff up or soak the scrim but enough to do the job, if that makes sense) and buff them up with scrim. These ones anyway as they had a leaded pattern on. Without led on, i mostly use a 14inch squeegee. In that case i would clean all top windows and double back cleaning windows below.

I use hard rubber in channels and cut an angle at the edges. So it doesnt ride up on the edges and so it leaves me very little detailing to do

Hoppers AKA top opening windows :D ( where I'm from anyway ) Yes I thought they were leaded, which begs the question, why don't you just WFP that conservatory?

I normally do, as i mentioned in opening post, sometimes i just fancy keeping my hand in trad work at times.
However this particular person was a customer i inherited on a round i purchased from a friend i used to help. So not long ago i hiked the prices up, one month i clean the house and the 2nd month I just clean the conservatory. (House is £18 n conservatory is £10) a compromise im happy to do 😀

I don't do it anything like you mate, i do a lot of internals, restaurants , hotels, car showrooms . I go a bit slower, use a smaller mop and blade and i don't detail (other than wipe the bottom). On externals i use a large mop and blade, but my mop is generally left on the pole even for low level stuff.
