I've got a daft/mental ex-army mate who phones me up about once-a-year, asking for a quote, often in quite a convincing way, but then it gets weird, putting on a convincing accent so I don't realise it's him.

He just does it to annoy me.

There are services where people can pay to have a recorded message sent to someone's number as a prank call.
I received one a few years back from some guy accusing me of messing around with his wife.  I tried to interrupt him but it just carried on and was clearly pre-recorded.
And no, I hadn't been messing around with anyone's wife - before anybody asks.
