I got a bad review on google from a former customer, second clean, I had to chase for my money after 3 weeks I had had enough and told her if she didn't pay I would take it further , next thing you know  she  claimed i had done a bad job and put bad reviews on yell and google, I am able to prove she was lying, yell removed the review but google will not, the first bad review in nearly 20 years , i'm fuming , it's funny as the same week I got a lovely email from another customer telling me what a great job I had done and just the other week another customer said I was the best window cleaner that they have ever had.

any ideas what I can do about the review

Can you not reply? If so, keep it professional.

Encourage customers to put their good reviews online and drown the bad review out.

I had one bad review on google, a bad review because I wouldn't clean their windows on their council estate . I complained to google and all they said was - encourage your other customers to leave a good review and over time , my stars will creep up to nearly 5 again 

Best thing to do is just leave a comment, make them look bad instead of yourself

Everybody (Or at least me) is not interested in the good reviews when buying a product/service i am interested in the bad reviews, i even actively filter them.

Make the reply as professional as possible so a new potential customer will read the review and respect you for your reply.

I purchased a new product last month and it had something like 2 bad reviews out of just over a 1000. Did i read the 998+ positives? Nope! Read the two bad reviews.  One review was left on slow postage over the Christmas period  and the other was " Took the money on the same say, refund took 7 days AVOID!!!"

Can you cut and paste the actual review so we can see what she exactly said.

When you do the maths of how many of your new customer find you on Google, how many  people will read the review and how many of those will not use you because of it........  A bad review will do very little harm to your reputation or company ,

 they are not nice to get but unless you are a hotel or restaurant (who relies on good reviews) then they do little harm, don't worry

Back to the op. I had a bad review once. I called at their house and asked them very politely to remove their review as I run a small business built on reputation blah blah. At first she didn't seem to care, but a week later I had a text from her saying she had removed it! I did have to swallow my pride but at the time it was the only review I had so looked particularly bad! Might be worth a try anyway
