Solar Panel Clean - How much? (with pics)
« on: May 15, 2017, 05:25:14 pm »
Hi All,

We clean the windows on this village hall inside and out 12 weekly...

They have asked for a quote to clean these solar panels every 6 months.

How much would you charge?

Andy  :)

8 panels, 10 minutes work. Same invoice as the window cleaning? Same visit as the window cleaning? £25.00.

Confused as to why you are asking?

Obviously you know how to price windows up, so dont understand why you feel the need to ask

We don't clean many solar panels on a regular basis - so I was just asking out of interest.

To be honest as it's a facility for the community & it's going to take literally minutes I'd just do it for free.

For the good will & referrals you're likely to get it should be a good return on investment.

I have based my price on communal calculations from recent CIU threads.  The forum has been told categorically within the last 24 hours that I make up to a 300% mark up on my jobs and it has become CIU folklore that I pay 12p per panel or 17p per panel, depending on who you ask.

This means I'd be charging the client 48p or 68p per panel.  In total, apparently, that means I'd be charging the client between £3.84 and £5.44 and be paying my subcontractor 96p or £1.36.

As you can see, that seems like good business..........for the panel owners.

What do you pay Steve (ball-park figure, reasonably accurate baseline figures here) when it comes to farms, lets say a setup with 20,000 ground mounted panels.

Reading peoples responses on here, i think i have a different mind set.
These solar panals are saving money them money. There not for any other means and especially not decorative lol.  Therefore cleaning them will make them more efficient and ultimately benefiting the owners. So therefore your cleaning of them is part of that business and your in business to make money. I would therefore charge £5 per panal.

I understand where your coming from, but thankfully ive plenty of work. My flyers are for expanding in areas where ive recently taken over a round.   You know the drill, a healthy turn over of work.....replace the worse with better work.

But the community hall isnt a charity, they hire them out for functions etc and so run it as a business. Cleaning those solar panels will help them remain efficient so to me thats worth the small £40 charge inorder to do so.

Or another way, 3 windows shown on that picture will roughly make size of one panel. Show how much do you charge per window (if you charge that way) then add a little more for the extra time and for helping them remain efficient.
So is a fiver per panel really asking too much.

I have seen pictures of whole houses that you clean for considerably less money. It's 10 minutes work and you would be there and set up anyway. You may wish to pay less attention to keyboard millionaires Nathan.
