Box to tick for a water tank, I wonder how that came about, (roll eyes) as per usual certain shiners intent in making life as difficult
for themselves and others as possible and certain insurance companies seeing it as way of keeping their custom by having it.
Have I ever declared a bolted in tank which can be removed in minutes by unbolting to my insurance, No and haven't been asked to, just as I haven't declared my painted floor, screwed in racks, pole racks, hands free and split charger which could all be classed as modifications but don't interfere with the safety and drivability of the vehicle which is what the modification box in meant for.
Have I every been involved in an accident yes, has the bolted tank ever been an issue, No.

Couldn't agree more! I remember all the idiots on here a few years ago warning the insurance companies about water tanks- it was never an issue before!  ::)roll

It added nothing on to my premium for ticking the box, so I was more than happy to do so for piece of mind. If you choose not to declare a modification that's your prerogative.

If you choose not to it is if you happen to have a modification you won't get a penny,I've been through this part of the policy with A Plan at length it sounds like there's a hell of a lot of WCs actually wasting money due to not even being covered in the case of an accident.

That is exactly why i had a rant about insurance 2 weeks ago when i was looking for mine , i made lots of calls and so many times i was assured that the tank was covered , but low and behold could not be mentioned on the policy in black and white as the system did not allow it , they would just have a note on their database , this im affraid is not could enough for me .
I found Gladiator and Admiral the most cagey when the tank was mentioned.
Thats why i went with More Than , i was assured over the phone plus had it in black and white and as mentioned above , there was no extra cost to the premium .
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

Insurance calls are recorded, your just pandering to the big bad insurance companies looking for any little thing to get out of
paying myth.
Modification's for vehicle insurance terms are things that will either improve the vehicles performance making it more dangerous or improving the appearance and value making it more likely to be stolen, and they will cost you.
Using brackets bolted to the floor to secure a tank of water is no different to using straps, both tanks can be removed and all
you need to say is I remove the tank to make room for equipment when doing other jobs.
The fact that it didn't cost extra shows that its not classed as a modification but it did get More Than your custom (wink)

Yes it did get my custom but the fact that they slashed  £200 off what the AA wanted this time around was also a factor !

Its all very well saying that the calls are recorded , but like many other orgs that do this there is only so long they will keep the recordings for , lets not forget , all insurance people are liars as we w/c's are scum between real jobs  ;D

The law states that the insurance company must prove your at fault not the other way round that's why they record
you over the phone, if they don't have the recording then it will go in your favour.
Certainly go with a company that you know to be reliable and will give you a good price but don't worry about ticking a box.

I've had no issue with Gladiator at all and this is now the third time I've insured with them. It could be because my tank isn't bolted down but just lives in the back of my pickup so isn't considered a mod. It's recorded and declared with them though.

I have a customer who works for a very large insurance company and he tells me that whilst 100% retention of customer call recordings are desired the reality is a little different. Apparently entire days of call logs have either been lost, accidentally erased or not actually made due to ' technical problems '. As a cynic, it's probably when you need to check something in the event of a claim.
