Non lateral clamp poles!!! who sells them?
« on: May 04, 2017, 05:55:14 pm »
Hi,who still sells the non lateral clamp poles? I find the lateral clamps very annoying and indeed a step backwards.
They catch on gutters and protrusions a lot easier than the original clamps and also they loosen themselves by spinning open as you open and close them, this means that as they are not consistent they wear the pole out more quickly as you are constantly faffing about with them!!!!

Are you meaning the Gardiner clamps are what your having problems with?

As far as I know Gardiner are the only non lateral clamp, and to be honest if you don't like those clamps because you feel they cause extra wear on the pole then your not gonna like the other non lateral style of clamps. Gardiners clamps are "smart clamps" and reduce wear a lot.

What pole do you and have and how old is it?

I didn't like the lateral clamps when I first switched to Gardiner's poles for similar reasons. I used to find that they got caught on things as well. I also found myself catching my fingers on them when collapsing the poles (painful). But I liked the poles so much, especially when they brought out the smart clamps, I quickly got used to them and adapted. I don't even notice them now

Many found the Gardiner Mk1 smart clamp horrendous, Gardiner's where lucky that there wasn't another good enough pole manufacturer/seller able to use it to their advantage.
