i have a friend who has a limestone floor and is supposed to be sealed but gets dirty very quickly and she cant get the stains out. does antone know a way to strip this floor and seal it properly. she is contemplating taking it up and replacing with a different tile because of this problem but it seems a shame as she spent so much getting it put down. would be grateful for any advice

Firstly the sealing of this floor has nothing whatsoever to do with its current and future condition.
Secondly it would be useful to know what stone your friend has - limestone tells me nothing as it could be one of hundreds of different types each of which is different to the next.
Thirdly is the stone honed or polished?
I am guessing that the stone has been worn by foot traffic, and dirt has been ground into the stone. The remedy is to have the stone re-honed and/or repolished - both of which are abrasive processes that are to be carried out by someone who knows what they are doing.
You can always contact me via my web site should you need to any further help.

The answer is to test firstly small area,
dont go in heavy for try wexa from lithofin, or wax off for heavier soiling allow plenty of agitation thoroughly rinse wet pick up. once clean leave for several days to thoroughly dry before any aplication of a seal or impregantaor depends on finish required,
remember some limestone should not be polished as these are not hard marbles many are antique and fossilised from tropical beds, though however some come close ,
