I use GoCardless...

Only. It's my only payment option
Alongside other payment options it's my main payment method
Alongside other payment options it's a secondary payment method

Go Cardless is fantastic for those customers that simply do not have the time or ability to remember to sit down and actually make the payment online.

You know if Go Cardless is right for someone if on the 7th reminder to set up direct debit details on the system they finally do it.

Go Cardless is another hook as well. It gets the customer and you tied together so your more likely to keep a customer long term once they are on Direct Debit.

It's hassle free. I set all my payments to go out on the 28th of the cleaning month and just get on and do the jobs when they fall due.

Not one of my customers on Direct Debit have a complaint it's easy; hassle free; and adds value to your service.

Another good option to go along with it is PayPal here. Some customers perfer to pay on the clean and dealing with cash is a pain on the backside. Chip and pin and contactless payments below £30 well worth it no need to go to bank and waste 40 mins in line to pay the little cash people use these days anyway.

I agree.

This is why I process it on the 28th of the month.

It is now the only method we acept with new customers coming on board. About two thirds of the old customers are switched over with a goal of by summer 2018 every customer will be on GC.

I love it and I can honestly say it has transformed my business. If a new customer wont use it we turn them away.

We process every day BTW.

I love my afternoon email mon-fri telling me how much money just dropped in the account and dropped of the cleaner planner debt list.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

I have the odd new customer sign straight up but I generally use it for persistent late payers...I give them the option GC or goodbye ;D

I really like GoCardless and agree it's changing the way many of us do business but being a paranoid kind of fellow I like to review potential problems that might occur from the companies I deal with and become reliant on.

GoCardless seem innovative and are currently valued at around £1M. However, since their assets have now surpassed the audit exemption threshold their P/L is now a public document. I'm no accountant but  a £3,524,168 loss last year (£2,298,296 loss the year before) seems a bit of a worry.

There are undoubtedly other things going on here that can't be determined from the published accounts but still....

nope.never used it although ive thought about it.BACS is fine(and free).ok i have to send text reminders for some after 14 days but its not many TBH.some still send cheques, standing orders here and there and good old cash on the day(or collecting on a monday).

any of you work out how much its costs to use  gocardless over the course of a year?

collecting is drastically reduced these days but i cant see me giving it up completely(it works out around 3-4 hours a month at present).it used to be more like 8-10 hours a month!!!(fri and mon)been collecting for 24 years! ;D.it keeps me in contact with my customers, irons out any problems/issues and i pick up add on work too plus its good for customer loyalty/rapport,etc.
price higher/work harder!

id be worried too if it was the only payment method and my whole business relied on it for sure.i like to keep my eggs in lots of different baskets! :)

Well if you think you earn £35 an hour for arguments sake  on average @ 4  hours that's £140. a month of your hourly rate

Go cardless is 1% if you earn £750 a week that's £3000 a month

It's going to cost you £30 a month

It's a no brainier using go cardless, unless your set on customer contact

To fair all your doing is nursing the bad payers by collecting and giving them preferancial treatment over good  payers

my thoughts on it

A loss is all relative

If you took out1 million as a director without share holders its your company who will question you

It doesn't mean a dominant isn't viable

To be fair 1% is low on charges, I'm guessing something may change

its just that collecting is deeply ingrained in me and lots of customers are used to it as ive been doing it for so long (albeit not half as much as i used too.)i also enjoy touching base with my customers(some!!) and ask how their doing etc  as i dont see half of them in the day when cleaning their windows.

Never need to collect anymore.

BACS payments are number 1 preference.

Go Cardless is number 2 preference. If they are forgetting to pay.

PayPal Here is number 3 preference if they want to pay in person.

Cash is no longer something I want to take and will only do as last resort payment

Cheques are just a no no.

No idea what you mean.

Maybe the losses are to negate taxes. Quite possible I guess, still 6m losses near enough in 2 years...

Just started using it recently and it seems to be the way forward. The amount of hours saved, petrol, reduced stress, and a constant steady stream of money that you can keep track of is well worth the cost of it. Pushing for existing customers to switch and offering it as our main payment system to new customers is the way forward.

As long as the price doesnt increase il be a happy bunny.

why would you not want to get paid in cash or cheques ? ???(soon cheques will clear in your bank after ONE WORKING DAY)

cash is first option,BACS second, standing order 3rd and cheques fourth.thats it for me.no charges whatsoever.

Because as i expand the business I just don't want the ball ache of bank runs.

And reducing cash is more secure
